RSB Headache! (UPDATE)

RSB Headache! (UPDATE)

Postby LatinDragonXJC » Tue Aug 07, 2007 11:29 am

What's up guys? I'm at work right now. And just got a call from the mechanic working on my ride. One of the things they're doing is my RSB (a red TRD straight from Toyota). He calls me to tell me that the stabilizer end links are too long on my Gen1. So he has to remove them. I ask him, if these are removed, does it affect performance? ...he tells me, it's like no point in installing the RSB........

Have any of you guys ran into this before? Or do I need to find a new mechanic? Please let me know, they're convienently closing early today @ 4pm. :agrue:

August 8th, 2007- The Pick Up

So I go pick up the car (they closed before I got there). I open the trunk and the RSB is totally trashed, scratched, scraped and beat up from these retards trying to figure out how to put it in. I'm semi-livid. I turn it on, the engine isn't quiet as it used to be, I'm thinking maybe it's new belts, they need breaking in time. I start rolling out slowly from their parking lot, CLANK CLANK *BOUNCE* CLANK CLANK *BOUNCING*......WTF. Don't know exactly what was clanking, came from the back suspension area. I jump out the car get in pushup position, can't really tell what's wrong or if anything is hitting. But that joint to the lowest right (pictured below) is almost hitting the wheel. I rode home in fear @ 5mph (because i didn't want to jump on the bus again), the car was driving like a dump truck/lowrider.

Borrowed sto pic: Image

Obviously I'm going to bring it back in the same position they left it. I'ma drop it off in the morning with a note. I'ma call them as soon as they open and chew the flippin hell out of them. I would love to tell them personally (they tend to get loud over the phone), but I have work and can't miss any days/hours.

Sorry for adding to the rant. Do you guys have an idea what he coulda screwed up so badly?

Maybe, you got the wrong parts...
Are you sure your RSB is for your gen1?

Yeah, I bought it from Reggie (NVDS1), the insert that comes with the package says it's for my car.

the links are necessary, they can't be removed. Maybe you should have done it yourself. Reliable mechanics are kinda rare these days. :-?

Do it yourself. i'd say 90% of mechanics these days are not straight shooters...at the very least, take it to another shop and ask specific questions from their mechanics regarding their knowledge of RSB's, and ask if they are going to have any problem with yours.

and double check your RSB just to make sure it's the right application....i think i've had a 'mechanic' be correct and forthright about what they have said, maybe on a 1:10 ratio...you dont want to look bad by having the wrong part and looking like the fool yourself.

but i'm still a fan of trying to do it yourself...there is a much greater sense of accomplishment if it's done by yourself (IMO).

Thanks for the responses guys. I told him if I didn't work so many hours and had more time, I would of done it myself. And I'm not a mechanic.

Now what scares me the most is........I had scheduled them to do my plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump, p/s belt, a/c belt...now I'm very afraid if they can't handle a simple bolt on application. *crossing fingers and praying*
