voltage of lights behind climate controls

what is the voltage of the lights behind the climate controls? i know just recently we were talking a lot about replace those lights, but i'd like to replace those stupid incandescent lights with maybe a small neon light bar.

i tried to "paint" the bulbs with a blue sharpie marker, but all that did was make the bulbs dim and they don't look every impressive  eventually, all of the blue just faded, leaving a really retarded looking whitish-pinkish color.

i also want to change the a/c and defrost button lights with LEDs, because they look stupid, too.

thanks.
