you do not lose any hp on a stock engine. They do lower CR down to 8 or 8.5:1 but they flow 24% better so you'll possibly get better gas mileage and you're engine could handle up to 7-8LBs of boost safely. CDSolara was looking into getting these, best bet would be to contact him or Jim.

I have ordered new heads from Jim, but they have not been produced yet. I'm expecting to have them installed next month.

Your best bet would be to contact Jim. He owns a shop in Portland, Oregon, and has done a lot of engine work on his Solara. He doesn't post on this forum, so you should either submit a post on Camryman.org or e-mail him directly. His email address is ForeignAffairs@aol.com.

they are cylinder heads that are custom made from existing ones.

that is why they take so long to make since they are not mass produced.

Don't worry, he'll get back to you if you've sent him an e-mail. He's very conscientious about returning messages. I always hear from him within a day, assuming he's not out of town. Did you send your message to the e-mail address I gave you above? If you submitted a post on Camryman.org, that may take longer for a response.

Give him a few days; maybe he's out of town. He mentioned something to me about going to Las Vegas. If you don't hear from him in a week, put up another post on this thread and I'll contact him on your behalf.

If your shop is going to put the engine back together soon, then getting Jim's heads probably won't work for you. As someone else said, this is a custom job; he doesn't have a bunch of cylinder heads sitting in inventory. You have to send him a $1000 deposit, and then it will usually be about 4 weeks for them to get the heads out to you. Again, because it's a custom job, the machine shop that he uses has to slot these jobs into their work schedule. It's not a quick turnaround type of situation. It's possible that you might be able to get head more quickly someplace else, but it will still be a custom job.

I may be able to help you get these heads a lot sooner. I know someone else who ordered the heads for his Solara, but since he just destroyed his car in a rollover, he probably won't be needing them. I will ask him if he plans to get another Solara. If not, he might be interested in having Jim send the heads to you if you can reimburse him for his deposit. He ordered the heads about 3 weeks ago, so I assume that they will be ready very soon. Let me know if you are seriously interested. Once I hear back from my friend, I'll send you a private message one way or the other.
