Ok so i took a $200 hit on buying a Dat's ypipe that is of no use to me now, because it was modified wrong.

So i have three options as of right now. What route would you take?
Keep in mind my car has a Pre-cat system.

1) Buy another Dat's YPIPE but "NEW" for 240, get it fixed for $100, installed for $100, Gaskets for around $60? Total : $500
(I have the non-cali spec headers lyn around)

2) Buy Ebay headers agian $228, Buy Stainless steel bung and have it welded onto the rear header of ebay header $80, install $100 Total : 408

3) Cut off old Cat, Weld on a Flange and bolt up a new High Flow Cat that is already purchased, Cut and Weld : $85

My professional opinion on the pipe you already have is: "Cruster Fruck."

It has been through Hell and back and it needs to be put out of it's misery. More chopping and hacking is ugly. Lord knows what kind of ugly weld slag is on the inside of the weld beads.

I didn't follow that thread closely to understand what exactly happened that caused it to not fit properly on the front leg. Going with a muffler shop crush bend is not a good idea. Mixing the cold rolled aluminized tubing with the stainless steel and a non-stainless steel weld wire will result in a galvanic reaction that escalates corrosion on the inferior pipe. You have to use stainless when welding to stainless. Perferrably the same grade. If using a higher grade, then the higher grade wire must be used.

This is a lot of work and effort for such a small gain. You could have had someone custom bend dual pipes (with two flex joints in the same location as the single OE flex and then Y pipe into a single flange) for the same cost.

Go with the catless manifolds if you have them. Custom bend from there. I'll check my tool bench to see if I have any stainless PM O2 bungs left. I had a box of them last year but I fear I tossed 'em.

Good luck with the project.

Get a custom one made, or save your pennies for a JPP set up.

Only headers worth getting are JPP. The money you you spend on ebay crap could be put aside to go with quality goods. Just find non CA manifolds for now and either get a custom y pipe made or go with a JPP unit. Unfortuantely JPP y pipes are now only sold with their headers
