Greeting from Upsate New York, and now 4 that one Question..
Greetings from upstate New York. Wow I am so glad that I came across this forum. I just purchased a 2006 SLE with only 8 thousand miles on it. I love the ivory leather interior and I feel like I am driving a Lexus sometimes. There are a many things I love about the car but there are a few things that will take me a little while to get use to. The first thing that suprises everyone according to all the reviews I have read is that horrible blind spot. It's been about two months now and I am just starting to get use to that but I guess that is a trade off to having that nice sporty design. The second thing I noticed is that the transmision is not very smooth at any thing under 30 miles an hour. Now at first I was a little nervous about that but after doing some reading I found out (and I hope this is correct) that the car was designed this way and there is nothing really you can do. I want to make sure I am correct that this is one of the small desighn flaws and this car has something called an adaptive transmission?(what is that all about). Another thing I dislike is the rattles but with the help of that one great thread on this forum I will take care of that over the next couple weeks. Finally my one major gripe with the car would be that the suspension feels a little stiff. The car drives very smooth and handles the way I need it too and has that Buick float at times until I drive over divits or small breaks in the pavement on express ways. Why is it that the car takes these bumps extra hard but the rest of the time the drive is real smooth. Is it that i have to much air in the tires or that maybe there is an issue collectively with the structure of the wheel placment, body desighn, and suspension. Honestly way crappier cars in the past that I have driven do not take these small bumps in the road as hard. I really dont care about handling that much and I would like to know if there is a way that I could make this car take these bumps like nice big Cadillac, Lincoln, or old Buick. I like that sea sick float that those big luxury cars have and was expecting a little less noise from a car in this price range when driving on roads that have been paved in sections. Could it be that my suspension is bad? I'm curious if this is normal for this car and if so are there after market parts and tuneups that will allow me to turn this into a sea sick smooth sailing boat. I apologize for asking a question right of the bat, but I hope to contribute to these forums equally over the next couple years. I'd like to thank all the great people that have taken the time to post on this forum and help other people out.
