I'm just gonna say it:

Do it right the first time to save yourself a lot of headaches... if you cant afford to do it right, don't do it at all!

Depends on the quality paint job you're looking for in the end.

If you just want to throw some color on it and not care about proper prep/finishing, then a cheap-o place like Maaco will probably be fine.

If you want anything more it will cost you - unless you have a friend/relative in the biz. ;)

IMO a paint job is one of the last things you want to skimp $$$$ on... it might look good for 6 months, but it will look like CRAP soon.

yea i was thinking about gettin mine painted there to. But i decided not to do it. But they did do a good job on my renova grill so i would let them do the TRD kit but not the entire car.

They aren't necissarly cheap, but you asked about ways to save money on the paint job which made me think you were going to get one of the cheaper MAACO paint jobs. Bottom line is that you get what you pay for. MAACO has paint jobs in all price ranges and I have heard that their better quality paint jobs are actually pretty good.

depends on what color paints, different types of paint, and where you take your car. i say a nice average cost for a paint job is around 2g

it costed me close to 1600 for my 1990 celica and close to 4000 for our Es, when it came time for repainting them...so yeah, paintjobs - when done right are expensive

I paid over 3 grand to paint my 84 mustang. You do get what you pay for. You also need to consider door jambs, trunk interior, etc. if you're painting a different color.

A decent job will run you at least $3-4K. If you want a total job done right (if doing a color change) where they take everything off your car (hardware, glass, door panels, etc.) it's gonna run you at least $8-10K - maybe more.

If you're looking for someone to just mask it and spray some color, you can get something for around a grand.
