I need to replace my rotors soon. What are some good OEM size rotors I can get? All know about is brembo and powerslot. And what is the advantages of getting these rotors over OEM? To me if they are the same size and are blanks stopping power should be the same. I ran a search and most of the threads just rave Brembos. No explanation why.

I was goin' to get DBA rotors when the fundin' is saved up more.
Slotted will give you a fresh surface on the brake pad everytime you brake.

Yeah I dont want slotted. I dont race my car at the track so there is no need for me to get those rotors. I just want blanks. I dont want to worry about warping rotors and going through pads quick. Thanks for sharing. Actually do they make blanks?

Im just really trying to find out what brands are out that work with the stock calipers and Id like to know what are the benifits of buying aftermarket blanks over OEM?

^yes they do make Brembo blanks for our cars. I think Tracy (Mr_Chunks) has those on his car. i used to talk to him a lot more back w hen he used to be on the boards..

i got some diamond cut/slotted 'sp performance' (brand) rotors. after driving for a while, i have noticed that they have good stopping power under normal conditions, and only a slight amount of brake fade during 'soaked road' conditions (standing water puddles on >30% of the roads)

they were about 90 bux for the pair, and they look good.

drilled and/or slotted rotors have unique benefits over the smooth blank oem style rotor, including but not limited to, faster heat dissipation, fresh pad surface, etc. but there's also the probability that the brake pads will wear out faster.

one down side to getting drilled/slotted rotors, you can not get them machined/cut if you accidentally score them, which means that you will have to buy a new pair of rotors if you don't keep up with your maintenance.

most people here recommend the brembo blank rotors, and i they've pretty much been consistently solid.

i picked mine to be different, and to get a more sporty look. but really it's all about what you want out of your rotors.

If you want blanks Brembo makes some good one.
Neva get cross-drilled rotors they suck really bad.

Chinky--- I have to disagree with you about not being able to machine drilled rotors. I have Brimbo cross drilled and slotted rotors for about 5 years now and have had the front rotors machined when I started to get a slight vibration when breaking. They work just fine and my break guy said they can be machined just like any rotor.

More performance than stock
No increase in dust
No increase in sound

They are not both solid. They are vented...like two solid discs bound by pillars. Even if they were two solid discs, one may be less solid than another on a microscopic level, or may have slightly different makeup or purity.

I would say intricacies in the manufacturing process makes the brembos blanks better. As for what those intricacies are, I have no idea. I just know I put them on 4 years ago and haven't had to worry about them since.

My front rotors aren't solid. They are just like what you described. I was hoping to hear if the materials are different like that the brembos hubs dont rust. Oh well, looks like price is going to be the deciding factor. Thanks

I say go with Brembo just because they're the more reputable manuf. Its about quality. Not like youd want to throw the cheapest crap on there thats gonna be responsible for stopping your vehicle and saving your life

If you plan on keeping your car for a while, I'd recommend Frozen Rotors.
They freeze the rotors. This prevents warping.
