sorry for askin guys, but i just got this car 2 weeks ago and have no clue about it yet. This is my frist Toyota. I have owned several 240s and Sentras and those are a whole different tuning process and are MAFS system cars as it the solaras seem to be similiar in that respect.
with that said, in order to reset the computer, just disconnect the battery for a few minutes?
also, what is the speedcut off for the V6? i did a search but can only find the 4cyl cutoffs.

Just disconnect the battery negative cable. A few minutes would probably do it but SOP is to leave it disconnected at least 15 minutes.

Don't forget to write down your radio settings, they'll be lost and you'll have to reprogram.

There's a separate thread on this forum with a title something like 'how fast have you gone in your Solara'. http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=1399 Posts to that thread should give you a pretty good idea what the real world top end is for your car.

Cheers

If you have a scanner or have access to one (AutoZone), just hook it up and hit the delete [or similar] button... No need to mess with the battery.

For the speed, it's around 130, but I've reached 137 and have seen others go faster.

Either way, glad you switched over from Sentras; I had an '04, brand new, followed the break-in schedule religiously and it still broke down on me 14 times... My clique colloquially called it SenCrap and The New Pinto.

I'm curious, does the 'reset' on the scanner set 'everything' back to default? I was under the impression it just cleared trouble codes in which case everything else, (shift points, EFI settings etc) wouldn't be affected and the ECU wouldn't go into 'learning' mode.

When I had to replace an idle control valve on a Mazda (dealer did it under warranty) they disconnected the battery and I cooled my jets in the showroom for the half hour it took to do the replacement, leave the battery disconnected awhile and wash the car.
