6 MONTH "FALL TO EARLY SPRING" MAINTENANCE

ALRIGHT GUYS,

EVER SINCE I HAD MY LICENSE 10 YEARS AGO IT HAS BEEN A RITUAL TO ME THAT I PERFORM A TWO 6 MONTH MAINTENANCE(SEPT TO MARCH & MARCH TO SEPT) TO MY CARS (EXCEPT THE SUPRA SINCE I BARELY DRIVE IT).

NOW, MY 03 SOLARA SLE-6 IS UP FOR THE MAINTENANCE THIS END OF SEPTEMBER AND I WAS CONTEMPLATING ON DOING TWO THINGS I'VE NEVER DONE TO ANY OF MY CARS YET.

1. FLUSH THE ENGINE USING GUNK

HAVE YOU GUYS EVER DONE ANY FLUSHING OF THE MOTOR? IF SO THEN PROVIDE US WITH YOUR TIPS ON HOW YOU DID IT(AND PLEASE DON'T POST ANSWERS LIKE..."GO TO YOUR NEAREST MECHANIC", ETC...).

2. FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CONVERT TO SYNTHETIC FLUID.

ANY FEEDBACKS AND TIPS WILL DEFINITELY HELP ME AND EVERYONE HERE WHO LOVES DRIVING.

Dont FLUS the Trany, My Roomie's Brother is a Mec for Toyota out in CA and he told me, Never do a flush on the Trany, he didnt tell me why really, but he said that it never went well with the solaras or the 04 solaras at least.

I would find a tec from toyota and ask them about it for more info.

Good luck with the jobs ahead!

do a full seafoam treatment (use in the gas tank, brake booster line and crankcase) and perform a throttle body spray/scrub. seafoam is the closest i've got to a "engine flush".

maybe a quick maf cleaning while you got the intake somewhat disassembled.

change your engine oil and filter, especially if using seafoam direct in the crankcase.

i have done two transmission "flushes" (60k and 90k) in my garage using the stock trans oil cooler lines (one waste, one fresh supply) and my dad carefully cranking the engine. risky if you are working by yourself, but it got way more old atf out than i could ever get with a simple drain and fill.
