got sick of rotary? ;)
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

^^ Good Side of the Force? LOL - If upgrading my handling and power is going to the Dark Side then I'm Phreakin' Darth Vader.

^^^ Got sick of Rotary? No, not at all. I never said I was giving up the RX8.

The RX is great and I love it. But with a commute close to an hour long and premium gas being so expensive, I want to save the 8 for the weekends.

Recently, a truck tire tread hit my front end and caused nearly $3K in damages. (All covered by insurance save for the $100 deductable) I just got the car back with the front end in pristine condition. I will clear bra it asap but honestly I would like to not use it for commuting.

In short, I'm considering a Solara again for my daily commute. A convertible would be even better. I breifly thought about the 3.5L Camry. Power is great but ... it's a 4 door. Blah! I'll take slow and comfortable instead.

^^ Thanks.

BTW: Even if you live far, I would still consider the car. I would fly in and drive back.

Yeah maybe for the handling and power but not by much (power) I'm a bit dissapointed about the power of the RX-8...MazdaSpeed 3 is faster. Those 2 cars are about the same weight but the Speed3 has so much torque and some more HP. RX-8 should be the most powerful car of Mazda like RX-7 was in the past. I would be curious to know on a quarter mile race but how much second the RX-8 would be in front of the Solara not by much !!

Good success in your research process !!

Haha - I completely missed this thread had new posts.

Looking at brand new (or less than 5K miles on a Gen 2.5 SE Sport Convt.) or for a used Gen2 Convt.

Gen 2.5 : Between $26K and $28K depending on miles.

Gen 2 : Between $20K and $23K depending on miles.

No BS, I'm ready.

Why Jeff, you ready to part with that sweet 'lil Gen2 with the autographed belly? I smell a cross country trip!! Woo-hoo! LOL

LOL - So Milt, when are you going to put a 3.5L w/ 6spd auto in Posh's car? You're the king of killer swaps. (That's swaps of engines, not girlfriends.) :o

I looked at the MS3 and the MS6. Yawn. I can't bring myself to do it. Here in Michigan, there are TONS of these so my ride would just blend in.

My buddy at work has a 93 RX7 with 56K miles on it. (All stock) We left work heading to a bar. We ended up side by side at a stop light on 12 Mile Road. We both took off but the 8 pulled way harder from the start. (No lag) Matt's a good driver and not shy with the RPMs. He never caught up to the 8. Had we been on the interstate when he's running full boost, perhaps a different situation. He let me drive his 7 and I was disappointed on the throttle response even when the sequential turbos kicked in. His was all stock and I was running the K&N Typhoon II intake. Otherwise no go fast parts.

Two completely different cars. The 7 has tons of potential with proper tuning and a single turbo.

If I had raced a MS6, I'd surely lose. If we were on a track, I'd probably win with superior handling.
