Regarding the look...
18's on gen 1 = 19's on gen 2
because of the shape and height of the body.

I think if you don't have widebody kit you wouldn't be able to make it fit 9" wheels especially with lower offset. Lower offset move your wheels toward outside the car. You were talking of widebody kit...don't you still go with it ??

+1
19s dont look bad either but potholes! :o .. Reggie (NVdis1) has 19s and they look amazing. I used to have 17s, and yes they are way too small. I Like the 18s I have now. it's a perfect balance between 19s and 17s in terms of size and ride quality. (depending on your suspension work and tires of course. ;))

I think in stock form, rear is more constricting than the front.

I know you have to be very particular about the offset for the rear fitment with 8+ inches to prevent rubbing, but I haven't heard the front be an issue with rubbing.

Not to mention there is hardly any lip on the front fenders as compared to the rear fenders

I just got a set of 19 x 8.5 35 Offset for the my 03 Solara. The fenders definitely had to be rolled. Actually I was gonna go for 20s but i hate the look of all-rim-and-no-tire look.

9" will fit in the rear with +30 offset or so, fenders rolled, tire stretch and maybe some negative camber...

8.5 with a +35 offset fits good.. but you will still need to roll your fenders.. anything with a 8" wide with anywhere from a +38 to +35 offset will need fenders rolled depending on the type of tire you run...

This is for the rear set-up BTW.. the front with a 8.5" with a +37 offset will fit flush with your fenders

or 8" with a +35 to +38 offset is close to flush...

9.5" width in the rear definitely will look funny on gen 1 to gen 1.5 solaras because like everyone here says, there's just not enough flare to the rear to cover the width of that size wheel. Forget about stretching tires and all that compromises man...8.0 to 8.5 width should be a perfect match...My wheels are the same ones from a member in this forum except hers were 18's and mine were 19's and chrome (gots to bling n mean!!!).

I just purchased the JiC FLT-A2 Coilovers and I will be installing the whole set together this coming springtime...no need to show now since cold season's about to start.
