Help deciding what to do next w\ my sc solara

my car is in the shop right now, basically the engine is torn apart, and I just ordered the heads from Jim@ foreign affairs... and they will be here thursday... ( i got lucky and got the heads from a man who just totaled his solara)... anyway... I am thinking about running about 7 pounds of boost, I have a S-afc II ready to install, and I have an injen intake, w\ greddy exhaust, w\ the different plugs and wires... now, i have about 1000 left to spend.. the supra injectors are REALLY expensive, so thats out.. and new piston rings arn't really out of the question, its more of a wait.. and boreing the engine out w\ new pistions also is out also, should I get new piston rings, or should I just order the 7 pound pully, install my S-afc II, and wait for the headers? or should I do something else that would really be important to do now while the engine is apart... ur info is greatly appreciated.. thanks

i vote for piston rings while the engine is already apart. headers can go on some other time.
what about injectors from a tacoma? i heard somewhere they'll fit and be bigger than stock. that should be the next order of business. especially since the engine is apart.

I want to run around 8 pounds of boost.. and I know I will need a new fuel pump, so where is teh best place people have been buying them from.... also, I was going to do the Supra Injectors, and I want to know a part number so I can tell Toyota... which supra injector would be the best?

Better idea for the injectors...Goto a junk yard. I don't think the tacoma injectors will work, or atleast not drop in like the injectors from the 2jz. You can take the injectors off a NA 2jz engine. I believe new supra injectors were $140 each. Also someone on this forum has aftermarket injectors(I think its ericsol) and they were only $100 each.

At around 7psi you are going to run into fuel problems so I would get that taken care of.

Piston rings would be nice if you could pull that off but fuel delivery is more important. Also you might want to sell your safc 2 and get the split second computer. Talk to ericsol about it for more details but it allows you to control your timing and fuel delivery much more.

I got the supra injectors coming in, and they are going to be installed, the Heads from Jim are on the way, and I am having new piston rings from Total Seal put on.. why would I sell my S-afc II???? Jim @ foreign affairs is running 7 psi pully, w\ the heads, rings, and injectors... and he said its alright... I am sending my Fuel Pressure regulator to him, and he is going to modify it for me just like he did to his.. he said that i don't really need a new fuel pump...

Scottv6: What kind of estimate did you get for the new piston rings? Is your engine completely removed from the car right now?

I may be interested in rings in a year or so and I am interested in any research / information you may have already done.

Thanks

You would want to swap out your safc 2 for the split second unit because it provides more control over timing. EricSol is the man to talk to on this because he has done extensive tuning with both. The Safc II is really limited in what you can do

Jp has a y-pipe now for any gen4/Solara and a matching 3" catback for $899. I just wrote the text for the webpage so it should be updated soon. I got 13hp switching from a 2.5" to 3" catback. I also put together a Header and catback package for $1999. BTW the catback is quiet, 2 resonators and a Magnaflow. If you want just a y-pipe its $429.

Jim@foreign Affairs was telling me about that, I was planing on getting the headers from Xerd.com... I have the greddy exhaust, would teh bigger exhaust be better? and how much is it for the full exhaust from the block back, and also just for just the headers and y pipe?

At our hp levels 3" is mandatory, look at the 13hp I got from switching catbacks. The catback will sell for $549 and the full exhaust pricing is $1999. You will get 30+hp with the complete exhaust including a cat with a manual trans (havn't done a auto b4 and after), it will be intresting to see if Xerd can do that even without a cat.
