Would this mod hurt my car?
So, I have read the thread about tightening the wires connecting to the throttle body would make my solara faster. One is the throttle position, and the other one is for the transmission(mine is auto).
I have tried both, and here is what I think:
I think the TB one feels like all it does is stepping on the gas harder, cos It gives me around 1200rpm idle speed with a hot engine, when it should be less than 1000. So, I'm just tightening it so much that it responses right away when I step on the gas. (I don't want to waste the gas when I'm at the stop light)
I think the other wire is really making a difference. After tightening it, the transmission is responding quicker, and it pushes harder. I'm looking at the rpm, and the same rpm gives me more push. This is why I'm tighening this wire as tight as possible(I made it so tight that the bolt is almost pushing off the rubber thing, if you understand what I mean)
But I wonder if this is actually hurting my transmission/drivetrain by putting more pressure on it or something, or maybe wearing some kind of "clutch equivalent on the manual". (I don't really understand how automatic transmissions work)
I'm just trying to find the sweet spot between performance and reliability.
