Black housing headlights ??

Black housing headlights ??

Postby greeensolara » Fri Oct 05, 2007 10:47 pm

So i bought a set off ebay. i installed them earlier today and waited for the night to check out the light reflection quality. when i turned on my HIDs (8000K) the lights were pointing downwards that my fog lights were brighter than them. so i adjusted them to point out further... now the distance is pretty good. however, the light projection is crappy... its like two straight lines and theres a lot of blind spots where there shouldnt be, like in the middle of each line projection. its really hard to explain.

Im not headlight wizz, but my question is, isnt the inside of the actual bulb housing supposed to a reflector rather than pure black?

if youre confused on what im talking about heres an image about what i mean, on the stock headlights the inside is like bronze/chrome
Image

however, on the ones i bought (black housing) its black... like wouldnt that absorb all the light rather than reflect it?

and heres an image of the reflection, why does it look so cheesy and weird??? is it normal or whats going on?

i just wanna make sure before i contact the seller, its a local place, however i bought it on ebay, if its all jacked up then ima go in person and tell them to replace em with ones that are good. however, if they are just like that then how do i solve the gay look? any info would help. Thanks guys!

imo, i think its because they are the projectors.. the hid kits doesnt seem to work well with yours.. might want to try the black housings that are not projectors? :)
just my two sense.. had the same problem on an Altima once, got rid of the projectors with some regular diamond black housings and realy helped alot

Forget experimenting with it. Even if you get them exchanged it'll probably look the same. Not to mention, I dont think the other headlights are going to be any different. If you want the black housing, open up your headlights, paint the housing black (or any other color of preference) and seal the deal. In the event they dont want to work with you, my next guess would be to replace the reflector with the one in your OEM headlights. Good luck.

Out of curiosity, what gen are those headlights?

theses dont have projectors. if they did the beam pattern and output would be much better .. you should have searched, everyone is complaining about the black housing head lights and how crappy they are with light output and all ... I say do the retro fit and youll be good to go.
