I just ordered some new rotors for my car, which should be here today :), but anyway I think I read somewhere that it has something to do with how they came to be drilled. Some shops buy blanks and then drill them. These are the ones that I have heard about having integrity problems. I guess this could be all rumor and speculation, but I don't know. I think there was a discussion like 2 - 3 months ago about rotors. Personally, I have decided to go with slotted rotors on my car, and am hoping to avoid these problems, by probably causing new, different ones :), all together.

Any time you drill or cut into a rotor of course you are going to decrease its strength. I've seen cheap xdrilled rotors crack. As far as the brembos they seem to be of very good quaility and I've had no problems so far.

I purchased EBC Rotors from www.tirerack.com for $150 a pair. I will be pairing them with EBC Greenstuff pads, which cost $80 at the same place. They're slotted and dimpled. I will be installing them myself starting in about 10 minutes. One of the other members, ChiTownSolara, is running with this combo right now and seems pleased with it. For more information check this thread.

I was able to do it myself, well other than help with the bleeding. The Haynes Manuel, which I purchased from Amazon, is very complete in how to do everything that is needed for this project. Now, I have to wait 300 miles for the pads to set with the rotors before I can give them a good tromping  . It took me about 6 hours, but I also painted my calipers, so that was the biggest wait. If I can do this procedure it should be doable by most anyone, as I am not the greatest of auto mechanics :).

The Haynes Manuel has 2 pages worth of pictures detailing every movement of the install. If you would like to see my install email me with the topic ROTOR INSTALL PICTURES. The topic should be in all caps, or I might miss the mail and my spam filter will eat it. :) On a side note I got my 300+ miles of driving in today and I must say the brakes do come on much smoother now :), I am very happy.

The 4 cylinder models only have front disc. :( The rears are drums :(. I hadn’t even considered that you might have the 4-wheel disc of the V6 . I would try PMing ChiTownSolara to see what configuration he is running.

Correct me if this is a misunderstanding on my part, but I think the fronts do most of the stopping in any FF car anyway?

As you stop your car's momentum is going forward so therefore the front brakes do most of the work. Your front brakes do about 80% of the braking. To further support this claim that is why on the v6 the discs are bigger in the front and why when you buy a brembo big brake kit, most of the time its just the front two brakes.

I'm also looking to change out my rotors, but i've got one question for you guys...when i just barely touch the brakes, it makes kind of a hissing sound and then when i get heavier on it, it kinda goes away. Do my rotors just need to be cleaned or changed out all together? They do like kinda grimy actually.
