I just wanted to ask what are the plus and minus of the upgrade and also how much of a difference for low end and high end power. I own a 2001 SE with the 3.0 V6 and i just wanted to know if the $3500 is worth the upgrade.

Thank you for your responces

most people are very happy with their superchargers, while there are (small) a few who think it wasn't worth it
i'm sure you can do a lot better than $3500, anyway do a search, its been talked about enough times...

Most people with the 5 speed version of the Solara have been happy. A number of people with automatics, however, have not found the difference to be as noticeable, probably due to more drivetrain loss. In general, it is a nice upgrade, but it usually makes you want even more power. Many people who get the supercharger end up buying smaller pulleys to increase the boost and then spending a lot more money on intake and exhaust upgrades. Now there are headers, Y pipes and cylinder heads available to get even more out of the supercharger. In order to get the power to the ground, people are looking at upgrading their clutches and torque converters, too. By the time you purchase all this stuff and have it installed, you've tripled the cost of the supercharger. By the way, you should be able to get a better price on the supercharger than $3500.

Thanks CDSSolara and Nasty. This was alot of good info. I currently have the Automatic and am quite happy with the car. I was the former owner of a 2000 Maxima SE and the difference is night and day. The low end toque of the MAX beats out the Solara but the High end of the Solara matches the MAX. I would be really interested in the numbers from someone with a super charged Solara w/ automatic trans (HP) Thansk again
