it's a common problem... but some tint shops KNOW what they are doing and can overlay the tint on the "matrix"

It is also common for some tint shops to just put the vinyl in... the vinyl bothers me because it's not transparent at all... but you don't lose that much visibility. Hopefully you got the tint w/ a lifetime warranty!

Yeah go to another tinting place that is familiar with "black tape"... they can go ahead and cut out that part with the bubbles and apply that black tape over it.

You wont be able to see through that black tape at all, but it covers up the little circles. When you look through yiour rear view mirror, its not much that is blocked out so no worries.

It shouldnt cost more than $40 just for the black tape and its labor.

GOOD LUCK!! :D

common problem with our cars....nothing to be worried about. If you went to a reputed shop...they will guarantee the work. I took my car to the person who does the tinting for a lexus dealership..he told me ES and GS have the same problems as solara's! so we're not alone!

well, depending on how well you can sweet talk em, I'd try to get your money back and take it to a place where the installers know how to tint the dot matrix, unless they can somehow learn to do it and retint. you shouldnt have to settle, it can be done properly.

the vinyl goes inside the car but i dont like how it looks though.

i had to really work with the tint to squeegee out the air and water that gets trapped in the dot matrix on my solara. i does not look bad once the moisture bubbles dry. a good shop will guarantee there work. btw/ I used sunguard tint 15%

yea, the tint place I went to said that it was impossible to get it perfect but they but they'd try to get as much out as the could. I was suppose to call them a week later after the tint dried so that they could do another pass to get all the bubbles out...but yea, I never quite got there :o opps.

You can't really tell in this pic..but it looks ok...you can notice it a little, but it blends.
