crash...

Postby BadAngel » Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:30 pm

hahaha i don't have any intentions of selling the car so it shouldn't matter anyway :D but yeah his father owned a garage as well so hes got a good 15-20 years experience. Hes fixed all of my brothers cars wonderfully so i am really not worried about frame damage... i really doubt there is any since i was only going like 15-20 miles and the suspension took probably 75 percent of the hit... and if there is any frame damage its probably very very minimal.... We'll see tho i should have a good idea of all the damages and a price estimate on the car by the end of the week...

Also i was thinking if i have to replace the front bumper (which i really don't want to do) i was going to put a custom bumper on... what do u think:

^^ahahaha I knew EXACTLY what bumper that was before I even opened the link.

Please don't put that on your car. It is one of the most ridiculous kits I've seen.

Sorry to see that. i wouldn't really call off the frame damage until you take apart the front.
on the popsitive side, at least the gen 2's body parts and components such as the frames are considerably cheaper and easier to obtain than the 1's. good luck

i think its a good thing that you didnt go through your insurance for two reasons, b'cuz where im from and b'cuz im in the same "minor" bracket as you the monthly payments would have sky rocketed...PLUS goin trough them your sure to have a modification in your cars title..if they would fix that they would add "rebuilt body..or somethin similar" next to it for sure.. AND YOU DONT WANT THAT ...makes your car harder to sell in the future unless u cut the price like really CUT it

its gonna cost u a few thousands but you know what just get a new c.card put it on it cut the card up and pay the monthly payments/// thats what i would do

good luck...and merry xmas :)

Well, it went in for repairs last Wednesday :D. I have been talking to the mechanic once every day or two since, and i went to check out the progress once. as of now he has found no frame damage (YES!!!), i needed a new A-frame, lower control arm, and half axle (i shattered the original in half... he said he never saw it happen before). well thats all suspension anyway... he is getting held up on the half axle but hes got the other parts in... i also needed a bumper a wheel a tail light a head light and the fender.... i picked up the wheel and the headlight myself for good prices, and he got the other stuff straight from Toyota because it was cheap enough with his mechanic discount :D. i'll keep you posted as it goes along...

Yeah i agree, looks nasty. but i would rather whip out the 3000 to 4000 if i had the money. i mean even so just like axle and suspension damage. Insurance pay is probably better if you didn't have the money which you do...

Well, I am getting the car back sometime between Saturday and Monday. Everything is fixed except a traction control sensor which the mechanic ordered and is picking up from our local Toyota dealership tomorrow. I'll post up pics of the fixed car xD

Good luck on your repair but I believe your way of thinking regarding the insurance issue is ridiculous. A lot of insurance companies underwriting guidelines forgive "first" accidents. You could tell your insurance company (if it did happen) that you hit an animal and lost control trying to avoid it. This would not count against you.

Secondly even if your rates did rise, how long would the $20 or $30 (in an extreme case) a month raise in premium add up to $5,000 (best case for your repairs)?

Thirdly, you don't need to file a report with the police in order for the insurance company to indemnify you for your loss. And even in the event that you did--file one. No big deal.

Good luck!
