Looks great, I was wondering how that would look on a car since they make them for pick ups and suv's now.

Pretty slick Jeff. Just don't be too confident that folks know you're in reverse. If I saw those go on, I'd think you're pimpin', not coming at me in reverse. (thump)

LOL Mike - I know what you mean... as it is, I NEVER back out with confidence, regardless what I'm driving or how many back-up lights I may have!

I had one of those biggass conversion vans to haul the kids around in and I put auxiliary reverse lights on the bumper, as well as one of those back-up beepers they put on trucks... didn't matter, people still walked right behind me and pulled out to try to speed around me in parking lots.

Lets face it - some people are just plain fawkin' STOOPID!

Where would you propose to mount those on the Gen 2? And why the big housing behind the LEDs? :-?

Yeah - I tend to break from tradition a lot - LOL!

I was backing out of a space at a restaurant tonight and a group of guys came up to the car and asked what kind of car it was - they've never seen anything like the backup lights. Funny though, as the lights are RIGHT UNDER the Solara nameplate!

PXLpainter wrote:My plans are to add on more long strip down under the bumper in the center but out of sight so it just glows on the ground for more illumination.

My other plan is to put two more underneath each door jam, tied into the interior lighting so they will illuminate the ground by the doors when I unlock the car. I did this with bulb illumination on my Tundra and it was a great feature to avoid stepping in a puddle or someone's puke or dog crap before getting into the car!

Granted, I'm a little more careful where I park my Solara than I was with my truck... Now I only have to worry about that sh!t when I go to Milt's house LOL!

if you're going to go with more lights.. go with superfluxes... 5mm LED's don't do anything

Those look great Pxl !

I guess I'll be the first to ask where you got the LED strips, brand etc.

Cheers

I would put it at the licence plate...there is lot of space to put it on boths corners and it would looks like a reverse there I think..I don't have a Gen 2 so that's hard to know exactly where to put it. Your mod looks nice also, it's just maybe a bit harder to know that it's for reverse.

Geezes I don't remember the place I got them from online, its been so long ago! I think they were sent directly from overseas (other side of the Pacifc that is) ;)

If I can't find an invoice or packaging I'll try to look for an old e-receipt. They're pretty nice strips - comes in several lengths and colors from what I recall - and they're a very flexible silicone base.
