Invisible Bra

Invisible Bra

Postby SammySolara » Thu Jul 10, 2003 2:24 pm

Alright, as most of you know I cracked my windshield driving on an Interstate about a month back. Add to that the large amount of cracks and chips on my hood and you get me thinking...

Has anyone ever used a car bra? I personally don't like the look of those bulky black bras that some cars have, so I am going more towards the invisible bra thought.
*Has anybody ever used it?
Do you recommend it? What precautions do I need to keep in mind? Water, rust, dust, color problems? Cost? Where could I get one?

I am still only in the consideration phase, but I am very serious about getting one, so please advise…

That's the one my friend has on his S500... when you compare it to his previous E320... you see THE DIFFERENCE that this little "tape" makes...
(get it? 3m ... tape... ehhhh)

its clear... you can't tell unless you're consciously looking for it.

I've yet to see any road chips on my friend's S500 hood... he has like 2 huge ones and a bunch of small ones on his E320 and both cars are driven in the same areas

I just got those thing installed after my new paint job. I believe there are many brands out in the market and one of them is Star Shield. But...The one I have on my car is "Ultrashield". It's a clear 8 mil, press polished thermoplastic vinyl, energy absorbent film from 3M with O.E.M. approval. I got the front bumper done that included the add on piecces and I got the inside of the wheel Wells and side skirts done. I paid $267.12 that's with the 10% discount and taxes included. I will take some pix tomorrow so you can see what it looks like. Personally I think it's well worth it cuz I paid a lot for my paint job, so I need to keep them protected  Ultrashield also offer headlamp protection and other stuff. Check out their website!

By the way...the only reason I go with Ultrashield brand is because the world head quarter is located where I live so it is easier for me to just go to them and let them do it.

I just had this new clk430 come in with that on it, and if he didnt mention it i probably wouldnt of noticed, and you can see where it saved him from a few chips already. Seems like a pretty good idea.

My friend put "stoneguard" on his Escalade...although it cost him a lot of $$. He got it just on the front of his car. His car is black, and I've yet to see any chips.

did the invisible bra ever come standard with the solara?
my car has it, and i got it from the dealer...
its not noticeable at all, except theres a white line where it ends (ever since i waxed the car, it kinda looks like the hoods been keyed in a straight line across, doesnt bother me though, not very noticeable)

Wassup Kenn!!!
Yeah i agree, I use to have the toyota front mask on all the time after I bought it, but it causes discoloration and more dirt to get trapped between the creveses. Now I only use it when I am driving on long trips to Vegas or San Francisco.
