first Mod for my Solara

Well i just purchased the Tokico blue struts and Eibach springs. I didnt get as good a deal as everyone else on the forum but didnt do too bad either. $577 shipped for everything.. Next will bethe HID then the Super charger.. Thanks for your help Yanks0114!!!!.. Also if there is a sticky for the install of these mods would greatly appreciated.. :halfrobot:

Upgrade those crappy brakes first before you add power.

hey i wouldnt call them crappy, theyve help me avoid several accidents

They're still crappy breaks. Toyota brakes are traditionally weak, my bros camry has terrible breaks and my moms old es300 has poor breaking.

Upgraded pads and SS break lines will yield much better braking

Maybe I got lucky, but I still have my stock brakes and I think they work quite well. I have taken my car on a number of twisty mountain drives and run the car fairly hard. I get good pedal feel, good stopping power, and no fade. Now, I realize that this is not track experience, but it still qualifies as more than normal driving. At some point, I will upgrade to stainless steel brake lines and better pads, but I would never call my stock brakes weak. That being said, I have driven other Solaras in which the brakes were not as good as mine, so I guess the brakes can vary from car to car.

i think its not so much that the brakes are weak, but the pedal is less responsive. the braking is much more gradual. i drove my sis's honduh accord and the pedals were so damn sensitive, it felt so jerky when i used the brakes cuz u tap them a lil and the car slows down quickly. but if you look at 60-0 stopping distances, i think toyotas (at least our solaras) fare quite well.

Mine have been squeaking too flash because of the hot humid weather. They only squeak when stopping from low speeds

Our other car is a G35 and it also has very sensitive brakes. You have to just tap them or else everyone in the car goes through the windshield.

Going back and forth between the Solara and the G35 takes a little adjustment. I think I actually prefer the less grabby brakes on the Solara, even as good as the G35's brakes are.

Same thing with my moms maxima. I don't like how hard they bite at first, but overall stopping power is unmatched by the solara. They could stop a freight train

heads up! ...tell who ever is going to install the kit to be careful about the ABS lines/sensors. You can run a search for 'ABS' on this forum and read for yourself.

I had mine installed Friday and the guys that installed screwed up on the ABS. The ABS is off because one or more sensors are probably broken.

It's not really a big deal since the car stops way much better w/o ABS it's just that I paid for ABS as a safety feature and I want it back.

The ride is nice and not as harsh as I expected it to be.
