What rims would go with a white car?

What rims would go with a white car?

Hey, I'm new here. Just bought an 01 SLE V6, no sunroof, sideair bags, or traction control. Very nice car though, with just 7500 miles from reputable used toyota dealership around here. So my dilemna is that I'll be getting rims in a few weeks, and have been to a great wheel dealer in my area (Good Roads). Good selection, quality stuff, and great service backed by knowledge in wheels.

You can help here. What color and size style rims do you think would compliment a white solara perfectly? A drop would also occur, the eibach/tokico most likely. What are your feelings on not adding the tokico springs immediately and ridin with the stock struts and eibach lowering springs? 18 or 19 inch? Would a white wheel do well? What silver or polished wheels might look nice? No chrome please, but polished is okay. 5, 6, 7 spoke?

Please help me as this is troubling me. The car will be tinted darkly, 5 around the back and 20 in the front. Maybe cleared corners. Interior is the charcoal leather. Thanks for all help for this newbie.

i personally like mille miglia evo5 rims a lot. but what u may want to do is check around on this forum and see what wheels other ppl have, look at pics, and see what YOU like, because its more of a personal thing. also visit cardomain and look at all the solaras there to get a feel for what suits your tastes. best of luck

Hari, you're right. I guess I just got to look at all the pictures and see what I like. I've been doing that, looking at cardomain and around here. Alot of great cars and some not so good lookin ones. I'm leanin towards something with a deep dish (1 1/2 to 2 inches) and 5 6 or 7 spokes in a silver or polish. Can't go wrong with that, I figure. I'll also go to that rim store and have em roll the wheels I like next to the car to figure what'll look good. Thanks for reply.

Before gettin my rims, I got a lot of pictures of solara's with rims and went with gunmetal Motegi MR7. I personally like white or black rims on a white car. Just get what you think would look good and would fit well on a lowered solara. Here is a good place to check out: http://www.fountaintire.com/tires/featured_products/custom_wheels/virtual_wheels.shtml

I think you meant tokico struts...It would be better to install the eibach/tokico together, so you only need to pay once for installation. If you don't then you would pay the installation of the springs then when the stock struts blow you need to pay again to install the struts.

Hope that helps.

http://www.tirerack.com
Check it out... it shows what the rims would look like on your car. Then you can persue it at stores, but this would give you a good online idea.
On the homepage, just use the 'Shop For Wheels' option.

gemini, thanks for the link and your opinions on rim choice. I've seen that wheel thing before, but lost the link. Yeah, I meant tokico struts. Whoops. Thanks.

sammy, I've been using tirerack and its pretty good, even though theres no 19s on there for the solara. Saw the evo5s on it and they look fine. Thanks for the help.

my favorite since I am a white car vet....polished lip, and gun-metal/black/winning gold spokes. I am switching to that look next year I think, on white it looks great. I have silver now and they look nice, but the colored wheels really stand out nice

Image That's gorgeous. I've been eye'in your car for about a week. Just gorgeous. Those white rims look very tight, and I like the body kit. In the end, I think my car will end up looking much like yours. Cept I'm still fighting over gunmetal with polished lip, or white like yours. Anyways, still a gorgeous car.

crazychris, i saw your car and it just looks alittle big for my tastes. Looks good though, keep ur ride straight.

eddie, thanks for the advice on gunmetal or black with polished lip. That would look very good on the white car with TRD/M-type kit and drop. Maybe a white would do well, like ultraslowsolara's car.

I'll get back to you guys once the decision is made, and pics will be posted. Thanks for all the help. You guys are great, and make this place such a great place for people needing help to come. Thanks.

I always get really pissed off when i wash my wheel, because i need to wash it from in to out. Now i like Deep dish wheel, so my next wheel might be silver or bronze color with polish lip.

However, what i learn about wheel is that a rim with deep lip will tend to looks smaller then those spokes are on top of lip (like Icrazycrhis's). A lot people thought i have 17" on the car because the design and also the size of the car

PS( i just learned my solara is longer, wider then a 97 supra twin turbo  )

That's true. Rims with spokes or designs that spread out to the edge of the rim, like that of Crazychris's, look larger. And at first, I thought your wheel, ultraslow, was 17 then you said it was 18. But it doesnt matter, it still LOOKS good. Being big doesn't mean looking good. I've seen plenty of uglyass 24s down to 19s. Bigger doesnt mean lookin cooler, but if you have a nice lookin rim whether its at 17 or 19, thats cool.

The deep dish with polished lip always looks sharper than a dull 19 or 20 inch rim when you see it parked in a parking lot, or rolling in from behind you at a stoplight. Forget size, and go with visual quality and/or performance in your case (you got a racing car, I believe).
