Chicago Meet 2008

Chicago Meet 2008

Postby QuickSEV6 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 12:09 am

Alright kids.
My job forced me to pick a week for vacation. I chose the week of the fourth of July. After I checked the schedule, I saw that the Cubs were out of town that week, so I rescheduled my vacation for the following week.
I'm just itching to see a game at Wrigley Field.

So, I'll be in the Chicago area from July 6th through the 12th. I'd love to get a Chicago meet going during that time. I am going to try my best to drive my Solara up there so I'll have something to show off.

Come on. I'm giving you all six months notice.

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking about meeting up and doing lunch or dinner at Hooters in Schaumburg.

Any other ideas? Anybody in?

Hell no. Everyone is welcome. The more the merrier. I hope we can get at least 10 people. That would be wonderful!

I just posted up here to let everyone know that I'll be in Chicago at that time

I highly recommend the weekend of the Elmhurst meet. We usually get a few from out of state to attend. (Even though last year was a bust, the previous two or three were good.) It's usually in the second weekend of August.

I found this picture off of Scion Life. It was from last year's event. (Hi Reggie!!)

If my last surgery goes well I will try to make it. I am not sure what I will be driving, but it will be good to see some old faces and meet some new ones.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Thats cool, but I am not going to reschedule my vacation.
I'm just letting you know when I'll be in town. If you want to meet up, great. If not, maybe another time.

If you want to schedule a meet for another time, please start another thread.

As I mentioned before, I'll be there from July 6th through the 12th.
Would anybody like to set an exact day, time and place for a meet?

This is my suggestion (I'm very flexible, so this is only a suggestion)
Friday July 11th at the Busse Woods Forest Preserve at 7:00pm

^^ Oops, I didn't read that you were committed to the dates.

The last day of the Taste of Chicago is July 6th.

What are your plans for the trip?

I don't think I'll be able to make that. I'll probably have to work on Sat and start driving on Sunday (Its a 14 hour drive).

I have three different friends and family I need to spend time with. I figure two days each. One up by Huntley, one near the Harlem/Irving Plaza and one near Melrose Park. So I'll be on the north side.
I really want to catch a Cubs game while I'm there and the guy I most want to go with works Monday through Friday so I'll probably go to a Saturday game. That would be against San Francisco Giants at 3pm. I'm not sure yet when tickets go on sale.
I may even go to the casino boat in Elgin. I had a lot of luck there the last time I was there.
I haven't been to the Admiral theater in a long time either, so I may go there too. ha ha
I'll be spending a lot time relaxing, drinking and laughing with friends and family. I've been blessed with both. Isn't that what a vacation is all about?
Other than that, no plans yet.

I'm 14 hours away. You have no excuses. ha ha Just kidding.

Just consider it. I'm giving you 6 months advance notice.

Hopefully, many will come. The more the merrier. Probably a photo opportunity too.

I feel lika an a$$ for posting this, BUT...

The biggest reason for me to drive to Chicago was to see a Cubs game.
Tickets went on sale on Friday. I got online at 10am and sat in a virtual waiting room to wait for my turn, by the time it was my turn to purchase tickets, the game I wanted to see was sold out.

Every weekend game is sold out now.
Weekday games have nosebleed and bleachers available.
Damn, I wanted good seats.

So, that being said, I may just scrap my idea of driving to Chicago in July and reschedule for the Elmhurst show in Aug. It looks like that might be a more enjoyable time.

No plans yet, just an idea.

I'm so aggrevayed about these damn Cubs tickets. I can still get tickets through a broker, but it's like $200 a seat. Thats real expensive for a game that I can see on TV.
