Removing Badging

What do you guys recommend?

I want to remove the badging for my Solara SE. But I have a fear that under the badging will be unfaded paint, so it will look like I removed something. Kinda like having a car bra, and then taking it off and seeing that the paint under looks newer.

Also, is it better to take it to like a body shop to have professionals remove them so that there is no damage or glue remaining?

Use search feature for your answer and also research your car bra idea also (maybe under the search feature) because I think that is bogus!

it's easy to remove but you may be right about the discoloration... that's a risk

first you use a heat gun (or blow dryer) and heat it up

be careful, since it's now hot... use floss to slowly start "cutting" the dbl sided tape that holds it on. have someone continuously have the blow dryer on the emblem...

slowly work your way from one side of it to the other and it should come off

then just clean up the residue w/ some soap and water... some people said to use goo gone... but i didn't have to

I used goo gone and it turned out great. I had minimal discoloration. It depends on how old your car/paint is.

Its extremely simple to do by yourself, dont waste money on having a shop do it. If its hot enough outside (I did it at 90 degrees) you dont even need a heat gun or blow dryer. Fishing Line works better than floss since its stronger, and I'd have the goo gone there just as a precautionary measure. Good luck if you do it!

[I debadged my 99 in 2002 and there was no discoloration at all, then again, the paint is in perfect condition]

i highly recomend holding a blow dryer over the emblems for several minutes on a hot day then taking fishing wire and just slowly, in order to get all the glue off, "saw" off the embelm . . . . its quick and lookes every clean . .. afterward just goo gone the surface then wash n wax . . . good luck
