have a friend who needs advice

hey guys, i know this isnt about solaras, but i have a friend with a 1990 nissan 300zx who swerved off hte raod and into a ditch. the car was damaged becaues of the ditch, but no engine damage at all, and he says the body damage wasnt too bad either. the car is even completely driveable, up to 85 mph without vibration. however, the insurance company or body shop says that it will be a salvage title after its repaired. why should this relatively mild accident push the car into a salvage title. all it needs is some body work, and it still runs completely fine! does anyone have some advice

simply b/c it has been in an accident and is not in "off the line" appearance anymore.

yea he said 'frame damage', that really sucks. so if you had a side collision, and it just bent ur b pillars on one side or something like that, then it would be a salvage title?? thas so retarded, cuz the car still runs compeltely fine and stuff. so is there any way he can argue to get a clean title, or is he screwed?

If the repair cost is about 40% of the car value, they would declare it as salvage title. Thats why there is no many classic goody are salvage title (such as AE86, mr2, old Z). Even just a fender or bumper damage can make the car go salvage title. I think just make sure to have all the picture taken from all the angle to prove the next buyer that it was that bad. Or just repair the car at your own cost.
