2002 differences

speaking of which, i locked my keys in my trunk a couple weeks ago. felt like such a dumbshit. the alarm system i have automatically locks the door after a minute, so just as i went to open the front door so that i could pop the trunk, it locked itself. bam, i was locked out. my sis had hidden the spare keys from me about a year ago, and never did find them. so i had to call AAA. it was scary how fast he unlocked my door using a curved rod

I think it is in the glove compartment so you can lock the glove compartment door and give the valet key to a parking attendant.... thereby keeping the stuff that is in your truck safe for minimum wage garage attendants. Just a theory.

yeah, but you could do that with the release on the floor as well (as 'that' referring to locking the truck for valets/other purposes)

well you can lock the trunk from the back, so it wont open using the popup thing by the driver's seat. but then you should give your valet attendant a special valet key that will unlock doors and start the car, but not unlock the trunk. kind of a pain. but then again, it would be the same thing for the glovebox trunk release, you would have to lock the glovebox, and then give the valet person a key that would open the doors and start the car, but not open the glovebox. same amount of trouble. so i guess the lesson is - leave ur valuables at home, or take them with you.

by the way, who actually puts gloves in the glovebox??

me too! nice black, chenille ones. Although, you can't drive w/ them..it's too slippery..good for cleaning the snow off the car though :wink:
