JP Exhaust Possible Fitment Issue

So Im pretty pissed right now. I have never heard of fitment issues with JP full exhaust systems, but the shop just called me and told me the y-pipe fitment was off by about 1.5". He is in the process of cutting it and welding an extension, but wow- I did not pay that kind of money for an exhaust system that doesnt fit :down:

Has anyone else had this sort of issue? Ill try to get some pics to show where the issue is at early next week. Perhaps the Jig was a bit off or something, but this is VERY disappointing...

The good news is at least the car should be driveable next week and I will have some sound clips up!

yeah i got it right from JP brand new...

Im going to get some pictures and send them to them monday... i dont have time for my car to be delayed anymore, but at least then they will know...

I had the JP exhaust system before. I didn't have any fitment issues when I bought it in 2004. The bad part about it was that some parts of the exhaust are constructed in Mild Steel with ceramic heat treatment. It was bad for me because of my drop and all the scuffing I was doing on enterance ramps. Every scuf contributed to removal of the coating. I believe it was the Y-pipe section. Man did the thing rust in the Michigan winter. :-?

Its was a nice thoaty exhaust. The funny thing was that the Blower was louder than the exhaust. Ah the good times when I still had the Gen1 Solara. :lol:

Check Carfax to see if you car was in a major accident???

^ the previous owner was on SG and I have talked to him, so i know that wasnt the case... and carfax turned up nothing as well. Thats a good thought though.

I might have been one of the few around Michi with this exhaust back then. It was installed at Page Toyota Southfield Mi. Those guys are great. I haven't been back ever since I got the G35.

I tell you once you get it on, you'll be turning heads. :lol:

It's pretty aggressive sounding. I just wish the JP was constructed in full 304SS. It droans at highway speeds and there is a slight rasp at WOT. I like it. :lol:

Doesn't sound right to me. I've been to JP's shop and saw the setup. No way the jig could be off and they have a way to check every single set they build for fitment before shipping...

Are you sure you ordered the right part?

^ well, i ordered the full gen 1 solara/gen4 camry system, so i dont know how it could be the wrong system. I guess I shouldnt jump to conclusions, but Im just going by what my mechanic told me. I will check this out tuesday when he is back in town and see what the issue is. I had a great experience with JP and wouldnt expect them to do me wrong, Jose was a great guy, so we'll see whats up monday.

I had no installation issues with mine. It was an extremely tight fit, no wiggle room. I would not cut the pipes at all, only as a last resort. Did you check you motor mounts? Did everything else line up? 1 1/2" is alot!!

i wouldnt let that shop cut the jpp y pipe or any part of that set up its not going to look good. i would just return it to jpp, and have them send you another set up. i bought my jpp set up from SCV6, thats the best exhaust ive ever owned.

did you install it your self? if you remove the rear engine mount its alot easier.
