HUH? :-? So is the 02 ugly too? Cuz the 02 and 03 are the same... And If that is so than you think the 99-01 are ugly as well due to the fact that they are essentially the same...so overall you think all Solaras are UGLY, making me ask the question: Why do you own one?

Ha ha, don't take this serious...just messing with ya. :D

I will have to see what it looks like, in person, in a color other than red. I dig the motor and interior look, but I am not sure about the rear half of the car. Also, I notice that it won't be offered without ABS :(.

why is ABS a bad thing? I know that sometimes when ur on a track or going through cones, you want your wheels to lock up so u can slide and fishtail, but as far as daily driving, ABS is good.....

ABS don't brake as powerfully as non-ABS brakes.

Yep. IMO sort of like a manual transmission vs. auto, but in reverse :).

'03 is the same solara as the '02. The only difference between the '02-'03 models from the '99-'01 models are the changes to the front facia and the tail lights. (Some refer to the '02-'03 is Gen 1.5) The '04 is an entirely different beast all together.... and I do mean beast. I am not fond of the styling. Perhaps, I will get used to it after a while.

Not me - I'm not getting the 04 solara. I'm thinking of however trading in my solara for a scion when those puppies comes out! (not to mention there was a news out that Caldina is finally headed for the states...but under which brand? scion or toyota)...if thats becomes more into a reality, then i'll wait off for the GT-FOur there!

No way, the car is ugly. I don't think it will ever grow on me. It seems these days all cars are getting the headlights pulled back to far, as well as the rear lights. I still wished they would bring back the supra MKIV with slight mods to update the body. I'm keeping my solara and doing everything I've been planning on. :P

I'll take mine in silver please!

I think it will look nice next to my Dinan M5 but damn BMW needs Toyota's reliability.

Toyota only sold about 40k per year of the first gen Solaras.
Since most of you guys think the 2004 is ugly I think Toyota will be hard pressed to sell 64k per year they are planning on building.

you know what bothers me about it? It's not a solara..it doesn't even resemble a solara....

it looks almost like they got rid of the solara and made some new car and just used the same name

I just figured out in the past 2.3 seconds that that's what's been bothering me bout it!
