Replacing wheels on a TRD

Hello Everyone...Nice be part of Solara Guy, if I am accepted.

My question is I have a 2000 TRD SLE v6 Solara, ugh....auto..... I have 55000 miles on mine, It has a stage 3 TRD package.

Overall I love the vehicle, I used to have a camry v6 xle 92, awsome car, hand me down, drove her 332,000 miles before i sold her, and pretty much slammed with everything i could do to her back then, The Solara Definately could use some improvements, its hard when I live out on the East Coast, actually in ol' North Carolina. All the freaking automotive shops here carry a full line of crap, and these boys around here know everything bout their mustangs and cameros and civics, but no toyota's. Sadly....and getting parts over here, well thats another issue.

Anyways, sorry bout the long spill.....to the point....

Well after this many miles, I have mildly scraped my front lips, nothing horrible, and bent the TSW's 2x. This time I have only bent one, and I dont want to fix it, the revos are waek wheels, they are not strong enough for the solara. My 2 cents. Well I am considering an upgrade to 19's....I need advice.....I am very picky about my ride, I love quietness. Unfortunately my Solara isnt soundproof, but it is still nicely done by Toyota.

I am planning to really get the vehicle just "fully equipped"...hopefully winning a lottery or find a nice rich female would speed this process up...laugh....but ideally, i would really like to chat with some owners of the sle v6 auto and tell me their upgrades so i can make an outline of how to go about this project.

As of the moment my solara is stock....as in the JBL, the traction control, auto climate, and she is red with black leather...first on my list is the wheels and then engine mods, or how ever you guys recommend.....Thanks, sorry for the novel...G-Unit

www.tirerack.com you can look for wheels you like and see them on the car... then buy the real wheels somewhere else =P

You can't go wrong with the supercharger... but since it's auto... you won't get a large of a boost as you'd probably like.

as for beginning mods (since you already have the stage 3 trd) the injen intake should let ur engine breathe a LITTLE BIT better...since you dont want a loud ride an exhaust system is not in your future...but the supercharger is well worth it...even on an auto...im sure ur not expecting to win on the NHRA or NIRA circuit...the supercharger will make ur drive alot more fun and keep you less bored while driving...eventually you will want a rear sway bar and maybe a smaller pulley with safc...but until then start with the s/c!!!

If you bent the 17" already... what makes you think you won't bend your 19"? (assuming they are cast too)

I assume the quality of the road isn't that good at where you live. I would save up money for some forged rims if I were you.

Welcome! As for my tips..if I were you..I wouldnt supercharge unless you get a good deal on it. As for the wheels, get 3 piece wheels so you dont get your wheels dented as often. For the intake, I would go for the xerd CAI if it yields good numbers, don't go for the injen. For exaust, I would go for the Apexi World Sport exaust if you want quietness

Btw, if I ever will supercharge the Solara, I will make sure I have enough money for ALL of these:
1) Supercharger
2) New pulley
3) New heads from Jim
4) S-AFC II
5) New header + Y Pipe
6) Catback exhaust
7) Dynotuning after install all the mods at once
Enough money for new knock sensors if they blow.

Doing it right the first time will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Before thinking about Supercharging... upgrade the brakes. You may even need to upgrade the torque converter if you plan to run a lot of boost... at the very least, upgrade the fluid and add a cooler.

But you definitely don't need a supercharger to make it a fun car to drive! If I were you, I would get new swaybars (cheap upgrade), and upgrade the brake pads and brake lines.

G_Unit - if you do get rid of the rims, I would like to buy the non-bent TSW Revos. I live in NC and have had a the same problem w/ bent Revos. Do the roads suck around here or what?

if you bend rims a lot, save up for some good forged 1-piece rims (as compared to cast, or multi-piece rims). like everybody's said, use tirerack for research and getting an idea of what you want, then buy em somewhere else. i ended up buying from discount tire and got a good deal, plus they install and provide warranty/balancing/rotation etc. that you can't get from an online dealer. does the stage 3 TRD come with the TRD air filter? if not, a K&N air filter is a quick, easy upgrade. welcome to the boards!
