My mechanic told me thatif I really wanted to clean out the interior of my engine I should change the oil and put 3 quarts of oil and 2 quarts of tranny oil. He said that tranny oil is nothing but a cleaning solution. Should I go through with it?

I'll stick with a 1/3 can of seafoam in the crankcase before my oil change. (other 2/3 goes in the gas and in the brake booster line)

I used to do that back in the day, except I used 1/2 quart of tranny oil 100 or so miles before the oil change.

I usually dump a quart through the engine every 3rd time with the drain plug off it pushes some extra black crap out before it runs clear. Any use sea foam about 500 miles before each oil change.

^Well again, I only used the tranny fluid method on my Buick, but I didn't change my own oil back then; even so, I noticed the car ran a bit smoother and a butt dyno returned a stronger power curve 8) . Nowadays I use Sea Foam every few changes, and the oil IS definitely darker!
