New Heads Installed

New Heads Installed

Postby cdssolara » Mon Jul 21, 2003 12:18 am

I just got my new cylinder heads installed by Jim @ Foreign Affairs. Along with the cylinder heads, I added a 7 psi pulley and a new knock sensor, and went back to the stock airbox. I haven't been able to really test things out yet, but based on what I've experienced so far, the car is really pulling harder between 3000 and 5000 rpm. The best news is that the CE light doesn't keep coming on anymore. Hopefully, the new heads have solved the knocking problem.

I'll post any further impressions as I test the car out more. I plan to get another dynotune in the near future, and will post the new hp and torque numbers. I'll probably be looking into the JP Performace heads and catback in the future to further free up the exhaust.

The heads are $2000, but he'll reduce the cost to $1500 if you send him your existing heads. I guess the shop can reuse the old heads.

Yeah, that's the way that I understood it, too. I thought about hanging on to the old heads, in case I ever take the car back to stock, but decided to save the $500. If I ever sell it, I guess I'll just sell it with the supercharger. I've put so much money into it now that I've just conceded it will be a huge loss. I guess I'll just keep fixing it up and keep it for awhile!
