Taking the Gauge cluster out

Taking the Gauge cluster out

Postby Dawgz » Fri Mar 21, 2008 9:49 am

The first two screws that hold that black plastic piece infront of the guages are next to impossible to take out for mine.

What did u guys use? ive tried like every possible lenght screw driver and it seems if i put too much strenght on it, it might strip the boltl...

Is there an easier way to remove these bolts?

Same here.

I used a stubby.

Once its broken free, it should be easy to remove.

yeah the first time its always pretty tight (ROFL) but if you have a short enough screwdriver to clear the bottom of the bezel, apply a lot of pressure, and turn slowly they should break free. I had the same problem in my gen 3 camry and my solara, but once they are out once its no big deal.

U guys are not getting it, i have more than enough muscle to rip this crap out by hand if needed, but the thing is, if i apply more strenght, it will strip the screw...and then it will never come out with out drilling it out...

I had no problems with a stubbie phillips... however my problem was after the two screws are out... do I just pull to get the black plastic off or is there something I don't know about that is holding it at the bottom? Cauze when I pulled, I felt as if I might break it...

the key is to really apply a lot of force upwards, and turn slowly. I did mine while sitting in the drivers seat.
