injectors dont fit

injectors dont fit

Postby Sp33d » Fri Mar 28, 2008 12:39 am

hey guys, i bought the 2jz-ge injectors and had them cleaned, when trying to install them, it just didnt seem right. it seems like the o-ring isnt the right one or something. it wasnt a snug fit. did i get the wrong injectors? part number is 23250-46030 which equates to a 93-95 2jz-ge. here are a couple of pictures

Image

as you can see, there is one huge o ring on the supra injector and there are essentially two o rings on the stock ones, one right before the "body" of the injector and a small one at the bottom of the injector.

here is a close up

any help is much appreciated!

Hmm. Somebody on this forum just tried to sell me a set of those.

Jim@foreignaffairs used part number 23209-46050

I dont know for sure which is right and wrong, but Jim has proven to be a pretty reliable source.

Good luck!

oh crap looks like there may have been 2 different sets of injectors.

http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsTOY.asp

23250-46030/46031
93-95 supra
the one you have.
Image

23250-46050
96-97 supra
and it seems to match the the solara injectors in the picture
i wonder if there is a way to make it fit.

ive emailed gadget for clarification. Ive been lookin on other forums and it seems they ran into the same issues. Im not quite sure yet but they just might still fit. But ive been reading different things.
Some say that they put it in on even though they didnt fit quite right. Some said u can just use the ring and the tip from the stock injector. But ill let you know what i find out.

I found this post on a Tacoma forum that said both supra injectors will fit:

"All 3 of these will fit fine:
23209-46031Red Top
23250-46030 Red Top
23250-46050 Blue Top

The red tops do not use the factory air injection. The blue tops do."

I know youre having issues with the fitment sp33d, but I think your assumption you made is correct. From reading threads on the truck boards, it sounds like the fitment isnt the same as stock, but once you bolt the fuel rail on they will be fine. I saw a couple of people post that they had similar fitment issues and once the rail was bolted on, they were fine. Something about not using the lowest o-ring allowing them to snug right up. here is the thread I got this info from:

i have tried just installing them without that huge a55 o ring and if you plug the injector straight down, it doesnt budge that much. so then i installed them and clamped it down with the fuel rails and it seems like it is staying in place. HOWEVER!

im the kind of guy that doesnt like things to just work, it has to be perfect. and i know alot of people dont have alot of money to just buy a new set of injectors, but i went ahead and bought the 23250-46050 injectors.

this may seem a bit naive, but i believe toyota built that o-ring and and shroud for a purpose, and i am going to stick with it. by just tightening it down, you lose the seal around the top of the injector port. and if any of you who have already taken out your fuel rail, you know that alot of dirt gets kicked up into that area. the large shroud off of the stock injector for sure did its damn job of keeping alot of that dirt and sand out of the injector port. i just cant imagine anything BUT fuel going into my car.

or you could just use the injectors, have it work, and call it a day. to me, i think that whatever i can do to make me feel better about the safety of my car, ill do it. ill update you guys when i get the new injectors to see how it fits.

Guys make sure you swap over the camry injector o-rings onto the supra injectors! Thats why they are not fitting for you guys, any of those supra n/a injectors wil work you need to remove the supra orings and install the camry ones.

thats it!

^thanks for dropping by and giving us some info Gabe, that helps a lot!

I am most likely going to stick with mine as long as the fit seems alright. I have heard from enough sources that they work, so im going to give it a shot and see how it goes.

damon,

remember the talk we had where i told you to bring over the stock o ring and shroud and put it onto the new injectors? that is exactly what gabe is talking about. it works, i just dont like the fitment too much. im gonna see if these new injectors i am buying has a better fit. if not, i have enough interest to sell it off.

^yeah thats what I assumed... I guess I wont know for sure until I tackle the job myself. Im just glad to know it is a possibility that they will work and people have used them without issue.
