Is it possible to swap a supra engine into the solara? ...Isnt it a 3.0liter? im sure it would be really expensive...estimated cost?

It would be cheaper to buy a Supra and we all know how much those cost.

i think we are forgetting that supras are RWD!!! that would mean along with the engine we would need a new tranny, and a bunch of other technical stuff..there was a discussion on this a while back try the search function. L8r moe

reason honda's do it is cuz its easy and cheap cuz so many people do it. and the engines are easier to come by and they fit right in.

It's an inline 6, yours is a v6. The V6 is used because it's more compact, therefore providing more room for the passengers. As seen in the drag Solara, the engine swap is possible... but would require another ecu, transmission, rear (transaxle?) whatever it's called... and you'd have to convert the front end to just drag along (unless you want to try for a 4-wheel drive conv. too lol).

The engines, from what I've read, go for about $5,000 shipped (included engine, and tranny, no ecu) but that's just the start of this painstakingly long project =x

Someone trried to do the same...somewhere in NM or CA..don't remember where..in the end they ended up with a tundra engine in it.....But thats not a street legal car mind you.....The original design was a supra engine...and from what i remember they had LOADS of issues....

It's in northern california. I forgot the name of the damn place... buzz performance or something... they've done a handful of rwd Solara conversions and also tacoma engine drops (i dont think they did tundra engine drops)

The old MR-2 engine was possible... at least read to be possible.

But beware the GTS engine... 180 hp w/ 130 torque... it'll be a really crappy daily driver... since the solara weights 500 or so lbs more... lol
