Tail of the Dragon Road Trip CANCELLED!!!

THIS TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO PEOPLE NOT STICKING TO THEIR COMMITMENTS

Toyota Owners of Chicago is planning a road trip down to tail of the dragon. We will be driving down from Chicago to TN/NC. Anyone is welcome to convoy down with us or meet up with us at the hotel down there.

Sounds intersting. If I get my suspension done by then I'd be down. What way would y'all be taking? I could leave after work in the mid afternoon which is right off 75 north of Lexington, so not sure how far itd be from there.

lol I am unsure what we are taking right now but you can try to meet up with the convoy or you can just meet up with us down at the hotel. After we have a list of people going, we can finalize things like directions and lodging reservations.

Just a thought. Get directions together as soon as you can then everyone could make plans to at least hook up for a short ride together in their area, or better plan to hook up and go.

Well for sure we will be taking the following major highways for many miles, we of course will be driving on other highways but only for like 5-6 miles so we can connect to these.

We are driving over 600 miles in the shortest distance to get there (for some over 700 miles), Im not sure what others would think about a ~50mile extension but if you seriously are interested, Ill pull some strings and we can swing through there as I know you come all the way out here for Elmhurst.

Alright, I hate to sound ignorant but what city are you going to end up in for the motel? I'm guessing you're taking 65 to Louisville KY then getting on 64, but where does I75 come in if you're going to NC?

We will probably get a hotel in TN because if we get a hotel in NC, we would have to go through the tail to get into NC and if we get there when its dark, that is just not safe, so for safety reasons, it shall be in TN. The hotel will probably be around Tellico Lake. Take a look at the loop, we will go clockwise and head back on Rt 360 (scenic road) and relax after some hard driving lol.

Alright, I've kinda got you, but for guys like me and across the 4 states trying to hook up, we still don't have a meet point ie: Motel or town. I don't know if you've ever been in this area but you can turn and spit in any direction and you'll hit a different town than the one you're standing in. And there's definentally places you don't want to get lost in (ever see the movie Deliverence?) I hate to sound difficult but I have to set my shop up for me to be able to go for 4-5 days, my wife has to set it up at her business and I want to get a bud & his wife in Greer, SC to be able to plan on riding. I'll watch the posts for when every thing's getting closer to being finalized.

Yes currently we are trying to find people that are truly truly interested in going. Once the list is set, we can plan out reservations and meet up points and what not. And no Ive never seen the movie Deliverence and I hope we dont get lost lol. I am hoping to start finding a hotel on expedia or hotels.com or something this weekend. I used to live 15 minutes from Sweetwater in Loudon, TN. Sweetwater is an armpit. I SERIOUSLY recommend you don't bother with Sweetwater. The Holiday Inn Express at Exit 72 in Loudon has always had great rates, a new hotel and safe place to park your cars. The Motel 6 next door is fine too. Ask for the Love Tub room. At least they have a pool.

The Log Cabin BBQ next to the hotel is VERY good. Otherwise the Calhoun's BBQ in Lenoir City (Exit 60) located at the Dam is very good too.
