Fog lights

Fog lights

Postby Grazi07 » Wed Jul 23, 2003 4:56 pm

Ok, I tried seaching, with no luck, so I'm gonna ask this question, and apologize ahead of time if its been discussed already.

I'm planning on buying Silverstars for both head and fog. I think I have a pretty good grasp on changing the headlights (unscrew right?) but the fogs are a lil tougher.... I can't get at them from the engine compartment (V6)... do I have to take off the bumper? As you can imagine, I'm fairly new to the aftermarket DIY, so any help would be much appreciated.... also, what should I expect to pay for the sets?

To get to the fogs, you have to remove some clips from under the front bumper area so that the plastic cover can be opened up. Then, reach inside to disconnect the harness, followed by turning counterclockwise to release the 9006 socket. Of course, putting new ones in is just the reverse.

Thanks.... where are the clips? I noticed some hex-shaped bolts, but that looks like they hold the rock-guard up....

should be 5 bolts on each side holding on the splash gaurd. You're going to need to get underneath the car

Its not that hard to do...but I had a hard time getting the fog lights to turn back into their little holders and my passenger side light I ended up taping back on because it didn't screw in right...good luck

Well, thanks to some AIM help from Kenn, I was able to get them in no problem. I didn't have to remove my battery, but I did loosen it to get a little more wiggle room. Again, thanks to those who gave advice yesterday, very happy with the purchase and I recommend them to anyone. On a side note, I work for an electrical company and we use Sylvania products almost exclusively. They're a reputable company with a great product, and from my experience with them, they stand behind it.

Graz,

I am not trying to be insensitive, but have you tried reading the manual? I know the guys have already given you answers but the manual has a lot of information in there regarding such questions.

I changed my fog bulbs easily.

Thanks,
Erneal

NOSDOG,
No offense taken, and I apologize for not writing back sooner. When I bought my car, the dealer didn't give me an owner's manual, and I've never done much work on a car myself, so thats why I have so many questions.
