What's up with the coolant reservoir?

X2

The Camry coolant reservior won't leak out your coolant over time.
The Solara coolant reservior will leak out coolant near the spout over time, and it looks bad.

So if you switch over to a 1998-2000 Toyota Camry V6 coolant reservior you won't have to clean the top of your Solara coolant reservior after it leaked all over the top of the reservior.

I think it was the way Toyota designed the reservior in the Camry V6 is best, the Solara reservior was a crappy design.

i noticed the leaks
especially after going WOT

I have a Camry and it still leaks. I use a rubber glove as a seal on the lid to keep it from getting crap all over the place.

Are the leaks coming from top? Would it be the system venting excess pressure? If so, why would you want to stop that?

There's a pressure spout coming from the side of the reservoir, but my leaks come from the cap area. Dried pink crap everywhere never looks good.

Does the tank need to be filled halfway, or does it have a special mark (not to top)? I know having a mess sucks, but you sc guys are producing extra heat which has to go somewhere... maybe getting a higher pressure radiator cap might help.

hmmm.....that's strange....why do you guys have that? the gen3s and from my recollection, my solara doesn't do that, and both are boosted

I don't think that the boost has anything to do with it either, since the car doesn't actually run any hotter than stock- both in terms of the oil temp and the coolant temp. It just heats up a lot faster and the thermostat opens earlier.

Cause its easier to find and buy
And it doesnt leave crusty crap all over the inside of the engine bay
all you have to do is make sure you dont mix green and pink and youre fine

yeah the red yota fluid is suppose to lube the water pump better than the green fluid, but i am sure that the green will get you along okay!
