There is a sticker on the underside of my hood that says something like "This vehicle may only be introduced for commerce in CA..." Goes on to say it is a LEV. I got my car in New York. Whats up with that?

West side solaras have 198hp and 212 torque I believe, two less than a regular solara. Why? More restrictive exhaust due to different catalytic converters? Or is it tuned down by the ECU?

Just wondering why I have a California solara in NY, and where the two horses I never had went.

you need one more air fuel sensor, ECU and different fitting of fuel injectors. I think the cat are different too.

I've always wondered about that as well....say if you bought your car elsewhere...and it abided by their emissions..like Texas...and if i move to Ca, Will my car pass smog there (since they have stricter standards).

no, but if you leave your texas license plate on, cops will most of the time leave you alone.

I believe it'll pass. Almost all new cars will pass considering how efficient and clean technology has allowed them to be. If a Solara from another state is being smogged for registration here, I doubt one would need to upgrade to CA emissions since the Solara runs fairly clean even in non-CA emissions form.

a bit off topic..

anybody ever take their Solara in downtown NYC? ...man oh man. speeding around midtown/westside on a Sunday morning. talk about tunnel vision...

...just don't get caught. LOL.

btw, you can gain back the hp loss from the CA emmissions w/ a simple K&N air filter install.

:D
