In case you all didn't know recent regulatory developments with the NHTSA has put the sale or importation of HID retrofit products in question.

These regulatory changes and/or enforcement will effect ALL HID kit sales.

On or about 8/15/2003, HID kits as you know it will never be sold again unless new laws or changes to existing regulations are made. To my knowledge, after 8/15/03, there will be a possible $5,000 fine PER DAY for manufacturers selling HID kits.

Please Sign the petition to continue sales of HIDs!

I've never believed the petitiononline.com actually worked. Especially this one, the idiot put NHSTA (New Hampshire School Transportation Association) instead of NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration). Unless it is the NHSTA that are banning the HIDs.

Up here in Vancouver, Canada, it's illegal to put HID into a housing meant for halogen bulbs.

HID in a halogen bulb housing = blinds people. Be considerate.

Yea, those bulbs should be illegal. They are too damn bright, there's even some people aiming the light higher to make it even more blinding. But they are talking about banning the actual HID kits not the fake bulbs.

Actually I do mean HID xenon bulbs... not halogen bulbs with blue tints. Halogen bulbs with dark blue tints usually emit less light than normal halogen bulbs.

Halogen bulb housing is not design to reflect real HID bulb beam pattern

Well since theyre brighter it just takes a simple adjustment... http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... 72&start=0

I think HIDs are nice! But if idiots point em up, theyre not using their HIDs to its fullest capability, which tells us a lot about the driver.

"Use the headlights to point to the road and not other drivers!!" :agrue:

Im not sure if its ALL but im sure most of the HID kits are meant for "off road or show use only" so theyre basically illegal for everyday driving.

Some of the other companies like BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes have their HIDs approve from the DOT and plus they have the actual housing to support the HIDS...

just like how Lexus RX300/330 has the altezzas/clear corners in the rear lights... those F-ers somehow got it approved from the DOT and other crap

thats because the altezzas are meant to go on the Altezza, not on every car that was ever made ;) when it usually is manufactured by the company and installed by the company at their plant, its a lot easier for it to be legal, and money helps ;)

in order for HID's to be legal on a car, the headlight lens is what matters. our cars were not meant to have them, hence our lenses are not setup for HID's. celica's on the other hand, although they did not have HID's (from the factory) until 2003, they've kept the same lens and therefore it is legal to have HID's in the celica lenses.
HID's must have a rounded lens to disperse the beam.

I just had my HIDs installed on my Solara.....and it looks great! The beams are focused and I don't have to use my foglights anymore. A Lexus GS with HIDs pulled up next to me at a light and my HIDs were as sharp and crisp as his.

I strongly recommend you get a hold of NOSDOG 79 if anyone is interested in HIDs. Remember to get the 5000k White with bluish tint.
Anything higher would be too bright! 8)
