It looks like they kinda went in the same direction with the rear end as Pontiac did with the new Grand Prix. Both ugly.

Melissa who are you trying to fool? You wouldn't get a stick if they had it. :D

I work at Doten Honda in Berkeley, CA...now I am a proud owner of a gen 1 Solara SLE V6 and i love it to death...its my baby, just as all of yours are...In the showroom of the Honda dealership though, there is this Honda Accord EX-V6 six-speed manual, in that bluish silver color that honda has...its fully loaded with a navi system and it just looks majestic...that 6 speed REALLY helps out...how come toyota doesnt get it?? there is some real potential in the solara...how come they cant just make a limited production 6 speed manual? It pisses me off...even though i agree with a lot of you that especially the back end of the gen 2 solara is fugly, a 6 speed manual would set it completely apart from the other cars on the road...my next car is going to be a 6 speed, and if Honda is the only one that offers it, then Honda it is.... :-?

why should toyota make a brand new trans for a limited production run?
the demand is not there in the camry platform. hate to say it, but mostly OLD (45+) people drive solaras. toyota would lose money on the production of a 6-speed trans.

but wouldn't it be nice!! :D

Toyota says they want to apeal to the youth(gen y and x) and yet they build and engineer the Solaras for the old(45+) people. It frustrates a lot of us.

I mean thats great and all...but listen, toyota and hondas have very similar market segments...granted honda appeals to more people in our age range, its quite obvious that toyota is trying to appeal to gen x and y's...especially in their new scion line (pardon the spelling if its wrong). All im saying is that if honda can do it (apeal to the younger generation), toyota can do it...and quite frankly, they better get to it soon cuz the baby boomers are getting old, and our age group is the next wave of demand!

as people get older and drive more cars, they eventually get tired of replacing transmissions at 40K and switch to a more reliable brand. although toyota is attempting to appeal to a younger crowd, toyota is quite happy with its older customer base, they have more money!

As I logged on to AOL, the main story was edmunds raving on the new solara :o I liked that it was a low key car.

This is one of toyota's ugliest cars they have ever made....i thought the new 4runner was pretty ugly, but this takes the cake....and has anyone else noticed a general trend for toyota cars looking like domestic cars? if i ever get a new car it defiently wont be another solara...how ugly....

I think I saw one when the convertable came out. I live out in Cali, so maybe it was only aired out here.

TV adds for the '04 Solara should begin Sept. 8 Nationwide. Shows to look for are Friend, CSI, and other such type network shows.
