Digital Slim HID Kits Group buy

Postby PerformanceTechnik » Tue Jul 01, 2008 12:41 pm

Hey Guys! Big thanks to Eddie for setting this up. Here's some answers to a few questions:

[SMAN] wrote:I need to look over my finances, but a may be down for a set or two. Do they have a bixenon option or 55w option? Also did we ever get final pics of these as a setup in the solara?

BiXenon is done by flipping a shutter inside the projector, not by changing the HIDs. BiXenon applications normally use D2S bulbs.
We do have 50W options. They are $160 instead of $100.

[SMAN] wrote:Looking good. Couple of questions. 1) what is the other silver ballest? 2) do you have any output shots against a wall so we can see a dead on cut-off? Curious to see the output patern to see how well their bulbs line up. and 3) why are your ends cutoff? Were there alignment issues with the factory toyota harness?

The silver ballasts are the ProLumen second generation ballast that we removed from Eddie's car. When we originally put them in, we cut/soldered the harness. The bulbs will be sold with pig tails that will allow you to plug them into the factory harness. Please be sure to install them with care and insulate the connection with electrical tape.

Pogs wrote:Is there a package deal. Say I would like 2 kits (headlamps, fogs), will it still be $200.

Plug and Play??

The only thing I can do for pricing would be to take off $5 for each additional kit if shipped together.

If you guys have any other questions, feel free to post here or email me for the fastest response.

Right, i understand that in bi-xenon projector setups they are that way, but for people who have 9007 lights that are dual filament in a single bulb, did you have a dual option for people in that situation (gen 1 solaras)?

Anyways, put me down as a go for 2 sets at 4700k (H7 & H3) and i am a maybe on a 3rd set (H10 3000K)

I'm trying to attempt a projector retro and I'm wondering if I can buy ballasts meant for a 9006 car, but with D2S bulbs for the same price.

Isn't that how they come on the BMW E46 with HIDs?

I'll have to check pricing for a 9007 kit (I'm responding mobile now)... it's a dual, so the pricing will be higher.

All ballasts come with a 9006 connector. A D2S kit runs an additional $25 as it also includes the D2S socket. This should work with your retrofit (9006 connector for power on the standard ballast, D2S connector, and D2S bulb). This is how it's done on the E46 BMW setup.

So all the ballests in this are 9006, are you including an adapter to convert to the other plug types so that we have a plug-and-play no-cutting solution?

Yep. Look at the bulb/connector. You will notice two blade connectors and a 9006 connector. The 9006 connector goes into the ballast and the blades insert into the H11 connector on the toyota harness. Alternatively you can cut/solder like we did on eddie's solara.
