Damn that's a lot of work to get independent fogs! :o

I did a simple 2" jumper wire in my fuse box on Tundra to do it. There's gotta be an easier way is seems... (hopefully?)

And it looks like he stole Ed's avatar too!

Yeah, unfortunatly it's not really easier with that. He and I spent several thread pages going over the wiring diagrams. The system is tripple redundent to get it totaly independent, but yet allow it to shutoff like normal headlights (when you lock the car, etc...) It's 3 spots that need to be modded.

Man what a bummer! :(

Why did they make it so difficult? I don't understand why they can't be independent in the first place - I hat that they cut off when the high beams are one as well. :-?

the reason they turn them off is that most states law says your only allowed to have 2 sets of forward facing driving lights on at any given time. Since they don't turn off the low beams, they have to kill the fogs to be complient. As for them being independent in the first place, part of it is a saftey thing. They don't provide proper lighting to drive by just them at night, so they don't want people doing that (or they could get sued). I so often see people driving old bmw e46 and e36 models with just the fog lights on and i can't figure out how they can see at night.

They probably see as I do with my fuggly HID !

I tell you...it is dangerous. I will go back to normal lighting shortly.
I drive with high beam aiming low...even so people are mad at me, I dislike this situation so much !

Yeah, check your local laws! If it's not legal and you're driving through communities with really bored cops be prepared to get harrassed! Here, rural and suburban cops used to love giving $10 tickets for clear tail lights back in the day but since manufacturers have now incorporated clear tail lenses into newer cars the cops now look for 1 license plate bulb being out!
