shaved emblems leaving a mark

I shaved the emblems off the back of my car, but since my car is a '99, the emblems were on there for quite some time. As a result, there are marks on the body where they used to be. With a little effort, you can see the shapes of each emblem in the finish.

I've tried waxing and polishing it a few times, but the marks aren't going away. It's been a few months since I've done it, and it's not going away on its own. Do you guys know what I can do about it?

Clay bar it. Same thing happened to me when I removed "toyota" from the trunk. You could still see the word on the car after I took it off. I used WD-40 to clean the residual glue and prep it. Then rubbed it clean with a clay bar, maybe a little meguairs paint cleaner, and finally waxed it.

You could "very carefully" use some rubbing compound. Not advised if the car is a dark color though, it will leave witness marks.

A clay bar can be found at an auto store. Its not like the clay from elementary school but i removes almost everything, bugs, tar, some surface scratches.

Do not use rubbing compound, use polishing compound if you must
