How much did your Solara cost?

Hey guys, I know it has been a while ; I have been pretty busy with other things. Anyway, I just came across a question that I really want to know. 
I bought my Solara from Longo, a dealer in California.

My 2001 Solara SE includes:

* sports package ( 15" alloy wheels, JBL, color coded spoiler, and color coded mud guards, etc.)

* VIP alarm 

* all floor mats and trunk mats

Total cost after $1000 instant rebate: ~ $20000

My relatives here are looking for another car - not a Solara and I need some help finding a 'better' dealer. I honestly think Longo sucks, but maybe they are not. Please post your price here (this includes Solara owners out of California). Thanks!

Bought my Solara from Piercey, dealer in NorCal. 2001 Solara V6 SLE ~ $27500.

I bought my Solara at Downtown Auto Center in Oakland, CA. I paid about $21,500, including a $750 rebate. My car is an SEV6 5 speed with sport package (16" rims, spoiler, mudguards, keyless entry, alarm system), floor mats, JBL system.

I bought mine through Autobytel.com. They set me up with a dealer here in Ohio, and the dealer said they charge $300.00 over dealer cost. I checked the numbers on the net and everything seemed good. I have a 2001 Solara SE 5-speed with JBL, Keyless, Alloys, spoiler, ABS, Leather shiftknob and steering wheel for just over $19,000. This is a price many dealers said they would be loosing money on. (I think not!!) Anyways, check out all the information on the net, add on a little for profit. $300.00 is a good number because they always have "hold back", and other dealer incentives, etc. Then tell them that this is the price you want to pay, and if they say no, walk out. They will call you back, and try to haggle. Stick to your guns, and you will get what you want! I have done this several times, and in the end, it always works! Hope this helps!

I agree. That's the best car buying advice. Just keep in mind when you go into the dealership that they need you more than you need them :smile:

My username is mtrainer but I can't remember that funky password I was assigned and I'm currently at work (Can we choose our own passwords?)

Anyhow I first started with http://www.priceline.com and indicated I wanted an Solara SLE for 25K even. They Totota in Elgin took me up on it and although I was all set to buy from them they didn't have the Indigio Ink (was that the name? It's the dark blue) so we started looking around the Chicago area. About 1/2 of the dealers we tried refused to sell the car at this price, but I did find 2 that had the dark blue and were willing to match the 25K the dealership in Elgin had offered us. So we got out the door in out 2001 SLE Solara for 25,000 even which I think is a great deal (Invoice for the dealer). Our research indicated that Toyota dealerships are willing to bargin on some car lines that they have a lot of, like Camrys and Solaras. But as one salesperson told us, the don't take anything less than full MSRP for the spyder. If you are reading this and looking to buy a Solara, believe me if you do the leg work and let the dealer know you are only interested in paying invoice you can get a fully equipped 2001 SLE for 25K.

Seems like I have the Best Deal here.

I brought my Solara SE 4-Cyl. 3 months ago. It has automatic transmission, Sports package, Key-Less Entry, 15" allow wheel, 8 speaker JBL, Spoiler, Floor mats. I Paid $19,300 for it.

I shopped 3 different dealers, let them bid on the price and brought the car from the dealer who offered the lowest.

Hey Guys,

Just purchased a 2001 Solara SE 4-cyl....thank God for year end sales b/c I ended up geting the car for around 17,500...thats with the $500 college grad discount. Included in the package was the sport pkg (alloys, JBL, power driver seat, and keyless entry). I was extremely happy with the deal. Will keep you updated on my upgrades.

Picked it up last night at San Bernardino Toyota. 2001 Solara SE, 4 cyl, auto, silver ext., charcoal cloth int., only add-on being the carpet/floormat set dealer included, 95 miles on it (of which 50 were from my test drive last Monday when I bought it ... OK ... so I couldn't stop driving it :smile:

) . Sticker was $20,300, end of year clearance which included the $750 rebate going to the dealer was at $17,999. Got them down to $17,695. Wife insisted on dealer installed alarm which they quoted at $1200, we bought at $995 extra (a rip-off just the same)

This may be a little dated, but here it is: Flame Red 2002 4 cyl sport package, JBL, keyless and floor mats=$14,998. Has 23k and in great shape. Body is straight and paint clean. Other prices in thsi are have been : 2001 Lunar Mist with 21K going for $14,500 2001 SLE 6cyl $17,200 32K 2003 9K 4cyl $18,900
