I've seen a few gen. 1.5 Laras on cardomain.com with painted grills. I'm thinking of doing this, possibly black (I have the black sand pearl solara. Anyone have any suggestions or tips..?
thanks :)

I painted mine using two different color sprays at once, both metallic. One was a dark gray, the other light gray. It mixed well and gave a nice shade of gray which I'm pleased with.

Here's a pic which I'm not thrilled with -- the grill was dirty, but you get the idea.

awesome .. well I have the gold trim package, but the previous owner of my car didn't take care of it very well and the gold is peeling and chipping.. i wonder if it is possible to sand it down, Bond-o over it (just the toyota emblem, and paint the entire grill black, including the chrome?

I painted my Gen1 grill this past weekend. It turned out good. I couldnt find an exact black sand pearl match....but i found one that was so close that you cant even tell. It was A VW colour i believe. I dont know about 1.5 gen grills, but i had to do a lot of taping for mine since i only wanted the chrome gone.
