ive worked for insurance companies for 6+ years and i can tell you it Business as usual" Dont worry, youre not suing the cool at -fault driver but the insurance company...."if the claim is a Collision with 1k or more in damage it counts the same as "1 incident" on his Clue report whether its 1k or 300k and hes paying his deductible either way.....

Oh crap!!!! Damon! I am soooo sorry to hear this. I've seen people disfigured after accidents and I didn't feel as sick as I did after seeing your car.

I am happy you are OK. That is all that is important. THis should be a reminder to you as to what is important in your life. The decisions you made are in the right direction.

Don't be a nice guy though. Nice guys get screwed all the time. You just lost a good car that you were going to keep as is. That just got ripped from your hands. Pressing this guy's insurance is the right thing to do. It's not you against the other driver, it's his insurance company. (Assuming he has insurance. I didn't read all 4 pages of this thread before responding.) Go get yourself checked out now. No BS, just make sure.

You do need to strip parts off ASAFP. Here's the catch, they will total your car with the parts but the claim won't compensate you for them. You pay insurance on the book value of the car. You add $7K in value between paint, kit, wheels and supercharger but your rates never adjusted for the value increasing. Thus they won't pay. It looks like you were able to drive it away instead of towing? Hold off on having the adjuster look at it till Tuesday. Get the parts off this weekend. Even if you strip it to barely running condition, they can tow it off. Once the insurance has a hold on the car, it will be impossible to get parts off it. Bye-bye Volks and you aren't paid for em.

I hope you can get something else in it's place. Alicia would want that. You have a passion for cars and really can't just put that on hold. She would not want you to resent her for giving up on your hobby.

I think you should consider looking for another ride that is a project already in progress. Perhaps something classic that has a huge aftermarket. Don't give up and let that fire in your soul die. It will stress your relationship and one day you will resent for it. Talk it over with Alicia and setup a plan to get X-car in 5 years. Setup a savings plan just for that car. Yes, save for the house but this money over here is for your future project car.

I wish you the best of luck. If there is anything I can do to help you, please call on me.

BTW: Wouldn't a topless supercharged V6 Solara with 5spd swap be awesome? This could be a future project!

Yes but he'll need to get one with the right interior color from the start this time!

Damon that totally sucks man. That looks like a HARD lick! But there's not a whole lot in the rear that can't be fixed. Not sure what your blue book is, but she'll live I think. I'm thinking 3k if the frame's still true.

Good luck either way. (and you know that you're stuck here even if you go out and buy some flashy 350z with your insurance money!)

haha, thanks guys, but seriously- I am in absolutely no pain whatsoever. I have never been in an accident and dont know how the system works, but ii just dont see any point in making a false injury out of this- I just couldnt live with myself doing something like that. I seriously do not have a single pain or strange feeling today.

I dont know what Im going to do for a car, Ill probably just dive my beater all winter and hope to get a nice car again someday. I dont really feel like there is much hope for coming out of this with a car as nice as I had.
