Stupid gauges screws...

Stupid gauges screws...

Postby Jackass-Jeff » Tue Aug 19, 2003 3:42 pm

Ahhh!!! How the heck do I get them out? I tried by hand, and even a power drill!!! I even pushed it 'up' as much as possible to get the most grip on the screws as possible and used slow 'screwing' w/ the power drill... =(

Anyone want to help w/ a suggestion, or actual physical labor? =P I'm on my last hairs on this project =\

The first 2 screws on the outside... I've spent over 3 hours trying to take them off (3 sessions, an hour a session)

I feel ya man....I have tried every screwdriver I can find and they still can't get a grip on the screws.......I'm just thinking about taking it to the dealership so they can loosen and tighten them...I really don't know what else to do......

rig up some crazy screwing device with the best screw driver you have ( the one that fits the most all around) and stick that in the screw then clamp a pliars around it and push up on the screw and left with the pliars for more leverage it works :D

those screws were a bitch and a half to get out. like most things on our car, once you get them out once, though, they come out easy every time after. i know one person who got so frustrated, he just tore the whole sucker out. cracked the black plastic all the way around the screw. he ripped everything out and just bought new pieces to put back in.

i just that was funny, but it's not necessary. they do eventually come out

took me about 10-15 minutes on different kind of screwdrivers to use... but if you check out the thread above with my post, I used a LONG screwdriver... those auto ones dont work and could even strip the screws... but anywayz i used the long screw drivers... if you poke into the screw, the screw driver extended all the way down to the middle of the steering wheel column...

from there you just work at... push up and twist... push up and twist

hope that helps :fadein:

Or use Ez-outs. Its going to be kinda hard to remove them because you don't have much clearance to work with
