Camry Grill Finished

Postby beigecamry » Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:51 am

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad I have the removable grill for the gen4.5. I updated my original post to show the before and after pics of the grill. Also, I just picked up a TRD lip kit so I should have that installed soon too.

I like it just as it is. Maybe a TRD badge offset, but not the Yota logo.

Thanks, I'll keep it like this unless I find a TRD badge for a good price. Already spent $10 for the OEM grill, $22 for the mesh, ~$15 for paint/bondo, sandpaper, etc, and $5 for my cousin's labor.

That has to be one of the cleanest looking mesh grills I have seen. Good job!

Thanks gnegroni, I guess it was worth the money I spent on it, in addition to my cousin's help :D .

Looks good, but the first thing that came to mind is that chrome has to go now. How about having it painted the same color as the car? I think that would look even better than painting it black

Nicely done. Welcome to the DIY grille club :) I just took mine off again to finally do the touch-ups. I can't find any mesh! Kregan(sp), Autozone, not even Home Depot has the nice honecomb/horizontal diamond type. Where'd you pick yours up?

Try looking where the gutter supplies are in Home Depot. Mine is actually a "gutter guard".

Beigecamry, Your grill looks flawless - good job!

Thank for the replies. I think it would look too much like a gen4 grill if it was painted the same color as the car. I'll still consider making changes though. Afterall, I still have more mesh left to make a second grill. I'm probably going to add the TRD badge since the lip kit will be on soon.

Dazany4002, I got my mesh from OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) in the door section. It's supposed to be a screen door and they came in 2 different sizes. But I know what you mean about the other mesh ones. I tried the $5 chicken wire and it looked horrible so I went ahead and got this one for $22 or so. It was pricey but I'm glad I got it. I think I looked at Home Depot too but I couldn't find anything like the honeycomb/diamond shaped designs. If there isn't an OSH, maybe try Lowe's or something.

Right on man. Thx for the help guys. I'll have to go look up an Osh this next day off. +1 on the Trd badge 8)
