You used an SC540 in Cad class? Wow, I'm impressed.

When I bought this thing new I shelled out 32,000.00. I've had it a little over 4 years and while they've come down some on the price, they've also sacrificed a lot on the quality, from what the old timers tell me.

No it wasn't that exact same one but another brand. I don't remember which one it was but it was ridiculously expensive. Plus it was about maybe 3-4 years ago.

lol ya, i dont wanna know how much the ink costs for that thing! lol.

If I remember correctly, the paper for it was pretty expensive too.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to take so long.

What these are, are prints done on artist's canvas. They are really high quality. The ink life is 98 years museum archiveable (sp) and so is the mounting film. I mount them on Gator Board. NOT Foam Board, that stuff's junk. I wouldn't go any smaller than an 11x14 and I can do up to a 52" x whatever length you'd want.
The ones I'm doing for Damon are 24x36.

Normal pricing if all I have to do is load the shot and print is $125.00 including mounting on Gator Board.
The SG price I figure I can do for $85.00 plus shipping with $20.00 from each sale going to SG for support.

Sound fair?

^^^^^ That's for a 24x36 like Damon's.
Trust me guys, I wont make money off something like this, it's just an SG kinda thing. I do have to cover cost of goods & employees pay though, and I figure since we're using SG's site to do all this they should make something off it. Actually they should make something before i do.
I don't want to spend a lot of time with different price sizing stuff cause honestly I don't have the time. And i don't mean that in a smart A%$ way. I just really don't.

I did Damon's for him as a kinda Damn that realy sucks that the legend got wasted and as an early wedding gift........and cause I just wanted to..........but not in a gay way...........ROFL

So that's it. Keep life simple. 24x36 for 85 bucks plus shipping w/20 bucks going to SG support.

Oh, and that's 20 bucks going to SG support coming out of the $85. Like I said, if we do this I'm not making any money, it's just an SG kinda thing.

What res is needed for the big stuff? Can't very well send you a 3megapixel image and ask for a 52" print. Got a general guideline table based on the resolution of your printer and the minimal dpi for a good quality look?
i.e.
4mp = 11x17
5mp = 10x13 etc.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... ality.mspx

There's a table using 240 dpi and one for 300 dpi. What's frame-worthy coming out of your printer? 300 seems like overkill. (8mp = 8x10)

240 would be fine. And even if someone doesn't have the best of camera I can always play with it in PS to get an acceptable print. If I didn't think it would print good enough I'd let you know.

And remember, this isn't photo paper. It's actual Artist's Canvas. The same thing you would stretch on a frame and paint on. It just has a coating to accept the inks.

One other thing, and I hate this, it doesn't do Black & Whites very well. A true B&W printer has to have 3-4 different shades of black cartridges in it to get a quality print. Otherwise it comes out with a greenish tint in some areas (like mine) Hate it, cause I love B&W. But if I set my printer up like that that's all I'd be able to do..........Anyway, food for thought.
