California Tint question...

Postby Missay » Mon Sep 01, 2003 1:19 pm

My tint is almost legal in the front and illegal in the rear windows, but I haven't gotten a ticket yet.

Although, am I the only person w/ this problem?? I've been finding it really hard to see out of the rear windows at night when there are no lights behind the car. A lotta of my friends have really long, narrow driveways (one w/ trees on either side of your mirrors and another one frigin mount fuji). I hate going up them at night because I can't see out of my rear window when it's pitch dark out to back down. Even parking on the street at night I've had to roll down my windows to see in my mirrors.

It's not even that dark, like 20%...it's only a problem when there are no lights behind me (headlights..streetlights..sunlight)

I actually got ticketed once on the Santa Monica Fwy for not having cut out a small section in the rear tint for the third brake light. I looked up the citation code, V.C. 26101(a), and it stated that “(no) person (shall) install in their vehicle any device intended to modify the original design of the lighting equipment”. I stated in traffic court that a tint is not a device *intended* to modify the lighting equipment, but they didn't buy my argument :agrue:

I had my solara with 5% on the back and rear windows. And I had 35% in the front two windows. And I haven't got a ticket yet since I've tinted my windows four months before. Once I got a pull over because of speeding, I rolled down my driver side window before the cop came beside me from his motorcycle on my car's back. :)

The first day that I could roll down my windows again, I parked and a cop parked next to me! I was like OH CRAP... but he just had to use the ATM... lol (parked w/ emergency lights in red zone w/ my friend behind me) lololol
